As she sat down next to him on his right and asked him how he was doing, he smiled and nodded. “I’m doing all right. Thanks for asking,” he replied. He was about to apologize for not coming back down the night before like he said he was going to, before Acion came over and asked if she was ready for her first class. It suddenly hit Jett that yesterday and now, he actually sounded like a normal kid…and not one who was stuck in a Shakespearean play. He actually kind of wanted to hear one of his own cringeworthy lines. Kaida nodded with a smile, glad that he was indeed feeling better. To be honest, she was kinda bummed that he didn’t come back down for dinner, and was still a little worried about him. She was pulled away from Jett though as she heard a familiar voice to her left. It was Acion, asking if she was ready for her first class. She nodded; Kaida was actually worried, as she did notice the groups on the board and that meant that perhaps she was going to have to fight, and she had to make sure to keep her Quirk in check. ”Yes! I’m excited, and also a little nervous. Everyone in class seems waaaaay more adept than I am…” In part it was true. She limited herself severely with her Quirk, while the others would have full range of theirs. Kaida at least hoped that she would be allowed to use her sword. But before she could ask anything, another girl came up to them, one she had not met yet. ”Why do you think so?” It’s true that Acion had met some people who had problems with their confidence. Reina, for example, was an extreme version. Not that Kaida was being like that, but after all the encounters, it would not be unreasonable to assume so. But he may be wrong. She may simply be trying to be humble. He also wondered about her quirks, as well, but he could simply wait until the exercise commences. ”But that nervousness can be a good thing. Because it is basically preparing yourself for the task.” Acion then looked to the board, at the group they were all assigned, as the dark-haired side ponytailed girl introduced herself. ”Looks like we are all each other’s opponents for this one. Be sure to pay close attention to your surroundings.” He hinted at his own fighting style without directly stating it; and by surroundings, he meant from the skies above. As Hatori had introduced herself to the two, Kaida listened; when she thrusted her hand out for a handshake, she smiled and took it gently with hers. “Thank you, Chiwa. That is too kind of you. My name is Kaida Beaumont. It's a pleasure to meet you.” Jett waited to see if she offered her hand to him, then offer his, if she didn’t he wouldn’t bother raising his hand. “Whatever you prefer Hatori Chiwa, While my father and mother are foreigners, I was born and raised in Japan.” He said with a smile. “It’s nice to meet you as well, My name is Jett Haven.” ”So you’re Kaida, and you’re Jett,” Hatori reaffirmed, pointing to the girl and the teenage boy respectively. Hatori certainly wouldn’t have expected Jett’s background, though it did explain his lack of a heavy accent in his speech. She paid the other winged teenager boy a short glance as he had also jumped into the conversation as she did, and instinctively paused for a moment for continuing. ”That means we’re all on different teams. I hope you all make it through, so that we can demonstrate each other’s skills...I’m certainly not going to hold back.” Hatori had also picked up on parts of the conversation the three had before they joined in, and decided to give her input as well. She was never one to underestimate her opponents, even if they seemed small and weak at first. ”I won’t consider that something to be nervous about; if you think about it, if there’s always someone better…” she extended a thumb towards her shoulder, ”It makes me all the more motivated to beat them. I can learn a thing or two from someone I think is stronger.” She looked at the winged teenager, finally curious about his identity; it seems like the other two had already knew who he was, but Hatori definitely did not. With what he said, however, it seemed like he was also on a completely different team from Kaida, Jett, or her. ”What’s your name, by the way?” She asked the winged teenager, not feeling nearly as awkward as she was before. ”It’s Acion. Acion Nakamiji. It is a pleasure to be your acquaintance,” Acion bowed slightly in a polite gesture as Kaida then spoke. Acion Nakamiji. Hatori made a mental note in her mind; since it was her first day here, Hatori wanted to make sure she was able to recognize every one of her classmates so she could learn more about them in the future. Acion was easy enough to remember, especially since those six large wings made him stick out like a sore thumb from all the other classmates present in the room. His mannerisms and language was a bit archaic as well, which reminded her of one of those NPCs in those fantasy RPGs. Hehehe...even his name sounds like it comes from an RPG! Kaida shrugged and blushed slightly. “I don’t know…it looks like others have been training for their entire life. I’ve really only trained for a few years…and not with my Quirk,” It wasn’t a lie. She didn’t really use her Quirk besides the strength she got from being in her normal form. She nodded as Acion commented on paying attention to their surroundings, and found it odd that he would say something like that, but paid it no attention. Chiwa also chimed in on the upcoming battle; she certainly seemed confident enough. ”I-I just don't want to make a fool of myself,” Kaida said quietly. Jett listened quietly to the three talk, and then added: ”You’re not going to make a fool of yourself. Roy already did that with getting kicked in the head by Kasuke,” he said with amusement. ”This is all practice anyway, so don’t worry about it too much at the moment. We’re all here to learn and grow.” Jett added with a confident smile. He too was interested in what Kaida’s Quirk was, though she did not seem like one to freely give out that information. His thoughts turned to his own Quirk. He had tried a few times this morning but still had no control over his abilities, which meant that he was technically the weakest in his entire class at the moment. He would have to be extra diligent on using his environment to his advantage and using others’ Quirks against them, at least for the ones he did remember. He looked at the other two, but mostly towards Acion. ”I only hope it doesn’t turn into a shitstorm like yesterday. Someone keep Mamoru away from the heavy equipment,” Jett said. As Kaida timidly explained about humility, Acion was instantly reminded of yesterday. While he did not exactly make a fool of himself on the battlefield, he did make himself look like some sort of idiot. Most importantly, he did make a horrible mistake that afternoon, which nearly resulted in someone’s death. For a hero, it was not just embarrassing, but also humiliating. But there would be no use talking to all three of them about it. Acion stood up and walked to Kaida, and patted her shoulder, while looking into her deep indigo-colored eyes. ”The fact that you’re here shows that you have some potential. And I don’t believe anyone in this class would be a jerk to laugh at someone who is working hard to improve themselves.” He took a look around the class, and gazed into her eyes again. ”Yeah. So if that lift your worries off a little bit…” Jett then reminded him the incident yesterday at the exercise. He looked at Acion in particular out the four of them, aside from him of course. Acion was the one having the most overview of what happened, since he was flying right above it the moment it happened. A flashback of the chaos returned briefly... ”Yes, necessarily.” He replied to Jett, his tone spilled with a myriad of emotions, from worries to doubts. Especially when the image that Acion was imagining was not a peaceful one. He then turned to Kaida and patted her shoulder again. ”You’re with her. Perhaps you can be the one to do that.” Kaida’s response immediately reminded Hatori of her younger years; she had only truly discovered her Quirk a little later than a normal child would, and was significantly delayed on her natural Quirk’s development until only a few years ago when she entered junior high. Though in Kaida’s case, she apparently hasn’t trained her Quirk very much, if at all, which begged the question of how Kaida was able to get into Komei in the first place. But it wasn’t Hatori’s right to make assumptions of other people. Hatori nodded in agreement to Acion and Jett’s words of encouragement, and decided to add in her own feedback as well. She was curious who this Mamoru actually was, though with the way Jett talked about her – or him, she couldn’t really tell Mamoru’s gender by her name – it seems like she was a reckless classmate. Another short glance at the blackboard showed that Mamoru was in the same team as Kaida. Hatori wondered what that mean for Mamoru as an opponent; Jett mentioned something about heavy equipment, though there wasn’t very much information for Hatori to go off of. She only knew one thing about reckless fighters; if they were reckless enough to put themselves in harm’s way, they were definitely reckless enough to be an unpredictable and wild opponent in a fight. Hatori may have to keep her distance from whoever this Mamoru was. Jett had also mentioned some other classmates, namely Roy and Kasuke, who were also on the board, the latter being part of Jett’s group. They were only mentioned in a passing sentence, so Hatori expected to learn more about them later when they came into class. Kaida looked to Jett and Acion as they mentioned keeping someone away from heavy equipment the name sounded familiar. Mamoru...was that the pink haired girl that scared her yesterday in her room? She seemed not like one to cause so much chaos to which Jett AND Acion were hinting to in their tones. She seemed more hyper and silly than dangerous. ”What do you mean? What happened yesterday?" she asked, looking at Acion’s hand as he kept on patting her shoulder. She slowly turned in towards her seat, repositioning herself so he would not do it again. While she did not mind Acion, she preferred not to be touched that way by a guy she did not know particularly much about. Kaida wouldn’t mind if it was someone like Roy and Jett touching her, people she recognized and knew well. However, she didn’t want to be straight up rude to the boy and tell him not to touch her again. Also, what was she supposed to do about this girl? She didn’t even know her as well, save for a brief encounter at the dorm halls maybe. The question caused Acion to stop his patting as he looked toward Jett. His expressions were unreadable; it was an inevitable question. ”She threw a number of heavy machineries at her opponents. Trucks, cranes and other kinds of things. Casualties...well...”–he shrugged his shoulders–”one critical injury, one minor injury, and the whole fight was stalled for a few minutes to get the situation resolved.” “All while we couldn’t see them coming due to the dust cloud. I mean she jumped through a truck windshield as well. The girl is crazy.” Jett added glancing to Kaida and Chiwa. He glanced up towards the door to see Kasuke walk in, past him and sit down, letting out an audible groan after she looked up at the board. ”You know…. I’m not that bad to work with…” He said with a smirk. Hatori glanced at the three, blinking and grabbing the table she was sitting on with one arm. Their dialogue was so vague she couldn’t make out what Mamoru’s Quirk was, though with how Acion said it, her Quirk definitely allowed her to do great physical attacks, which suggested something along the line of physical enhancement, like super-strength. That being said, Acion’s testimony made out Mamoru to be way more reckless than she thought; Hatori acknowledged well the benefits of training and sparring with others but not to the level of injury. Hatori compared it to a weight-lifting workout – it was great and all to push your limits, but getting injured from a workout could be potentially hazardous to one’s muscles and joints and in worst case scenarios could start tearing muscles or fracturing bones. Quirk training was no different. She had heard of people who have gotten seriously injured to the degree of permanently disabling their Quirk. Hatori hoped the same didn’t happen here. ”I hope you control her, Kaida,” Hatori added. ”While heroes will fight many villains, they must also make sure they don’t accidentally hurt innocent civilians while they’re at it. Rescuing and making sure civilians are safe is also a part of the job. Recklessness wouldn’t nearly be as acceptable as it is now when we actually have to do field work in the future.” ”At least she is cooperative enough. Here I have my own fair share of crazy fighters to control,” Acion said as he looked at the board of teams. It would be nice to have someone like Roy or Jett with him in his team, who were at least responsive. And from Acion’s observance – he wasn’t entirely sure – it was likely that he would have to pull his team together. But it was fine enough for him. A good leader can make anyone work well. ”Well, it certainly is nice to talk to both of you. And make sure that I will be meeting you later on the battlefield.” Acion said, as he headed back to his desk, as class would soon begin. Hatori slid off the table seat as more classmates were coming in and stood up. ”I think class will be starting soon, so let’s hope we see each other again. Whatever happened in the fight yesterday, I hope it doesn’t happen this time,” Hatori said, going across the tables to go sit at her own. [@Conscripts][@Heartfillia][@Aerandir]
