While some of this is from a comfort factor, given how much she prefers a pair of jeans over a corset, it mostly stems from the fashion of the clothing itself. She loves the rustic influence on the clothing that's appropriate to wear out in the Black, but she also adores the large hair in the 80's. The more she can express herself and her own moods with clothing, the better. 

However, that doesn't mean that Nancy neglects the fashion of the times. Instead, she simply tries to find the clothing combinations that allow her to feel the most like herself. In the 1940's, this simply means keeping her hair curly and leaving it down, rather than pinning it up. In earlier periods, such as the 1700's and 1800's, perhaps it means avoiding corsets at any cost in favor of dresses that are (in her opinion) much more tasteful and allow for her to breathe. 

As far as accessories go, Nancy used to love wearing earrings. However, she's becoming more and more drawn to wearing a bunch of bracelets at one time. She tends to go through a series of phases when it comes to accessories, only moving onto the next one when she grows tired of the current one. For example, she once had a scarf phase, trying her very hardest to find a scarf that would blend in with whatever time period she was in.

While some may mistake her as being childlike or naive, that isn't the case at all. She has seen plenty throughout her life and does not wish to dwell on those sort of things. It's better to focus on the present (whenever/wherever that present is) and enjoy it, as it may not last as long as you'd like. Yet at the same time, she keeps her cards (pun intended) close to the vest. She isn't one to be open and honest about deeper emotions, like love and pain. 

Additionally, Nancy may be the Cards, but she lives for the moment she is in currently. She has seen enough of what could be to know that if she dwelled on only that, she would go mad. She is neither optimistic nor pessimistic about what may come to be - whatever comes will come. It's not set in stone and while they can take actions to improve things for the better, those same actions could change things for the worse. She's a realist at her core, but do not mistake her as being apathetic about the future. 

She is also a rather curious person. For example, while she is an Emendator, she loves reading accounts of supposedly haunted places. Conspiracy theories similarly interest her. While they rarely ever directly impact her, there's something whimsical about them that she just adores.

There are occasions where she sits by herself and contemplates the question, but more often than not, it simply doesn't bother her. She has other potentially real potentially unreal things to worry about that are more important. 

As for religion itself, she views it mostly as a coping mechanism for individuals. If people need something to help them process their grief, so be it. If it works for them, it works for them. She can't judge someone for basing their decisions off of what could be - that would be hypocritical of her. For the most part, religion gives her a sour taste in her mouth when it becomes more than a coping mechanism and brings pain to others.

	I did what I had to do, but I didn't understand what was happening at the same time. My fear turned into something else and I looked my husband in the eye. I felt something strange in my fingertips and not more than seconds later, my husband had turned into a madman. He attacked everything in his sight, with strength that was impossible for him to possess. I escaped with this lengthy scar - the other men were not so lucky - and the understanding that I had inflicted the psychosis upon him. I suddenly knew things that I never had before and I understood that my purpose was to be more than some old man's bride."[/i]

	[i]"Hmmm...Of the times that I have lived through and experienced, the Viking Age was the most magnificent. I went by Torunn Mikkeldatter back in those days, living in what you know as Denmark, and I have fond memories of seeing the ships before the raids. People often view the Vikings harsher than really is deserved...Most peoples, throughout history, expand at one point, often violently. Yet that does not mean nothing good can come. There was exploration and discovery on each voyage! Little by little, the mysteries of other lands were uncovered...

	But of course, I did love the power women had. No arranged marriages - that's something I adore. Women had strength that they were often denied in other cultures. The society itself was rather democratic as well. I love a fair bit of chaos, but I can appreciate the rules and structures that keep a civilization going. So many grow and so many fall - it's often tricky to get a society right. 

	 It was a shame what happened...I won't bore you with the details, but I ended up having to put someone under a spell of psychosis. Those type of situations come up from time to time, you know? Can't be helped. At any rate, someone noticed and I had to think quickly. I put together a story that I was actually Loki - the god of mischief in Norse society - in order to avoid being killed. Understandably, they instructed me to return to Asgard and face Odin's judgment. 

	That was when I met Gio, funnily enough. He told everyone to go home and they did. We went to Italy after that. The Renaissance wasn't half bad but the Viking Age...Nothing can compare to it."[/i]

	[i]"If you find this hard to believe, I'm a bit shocked, but I have been reading the cards for suggestions as to where to relocate to for a long time before I met another Emendator. I was living in Italy at the time with the Watch and during my readings, I noticed the Kingdom of Scotland becoming a bit of a reoccurring theme. Having spent five or six odd centuries in one country, I have to admit, I was enticed by the idea of a change of scenery...

	Anywho, the most effective way to get to Scotland back then was by sea. We made our way out to the coast. Pirates were a bit of a problem and the coast was largely abandoned, so getting passage wasn't easy by any means - this was the end of the Golden Age of Piracy. Most people opted to take an overland route - even if the overall risk is about the same and the length is [/i]exhausting[i]. Pirates, though, they sometimes looked for new crew members along the coast. We were in one of those port towns when I saw him. I didn't need a reading or anything really to recognize that he was like me. It was just something I knew instinctively - and it was thrilling to know that there were more people out there just like us.

	Yet he also saw something that I couldn't - the Destruere. Alban - you wouldn't have met the Glasses... - he took us to Scotland for safety. It was there that I met Caoimhe - Eve - for the first time. There's no doubt in my mind that I was drawn to my fellow Emendators. Yet at the same time, it's a bit funny, isn't it? I thought I was simply seeking out Scotland. I found more than I expected..."[/i]

Gene has been searching for him for a while and she found out that he had fallen in with the wrong sort, with them sending him to Egypt to make a move. Tacking what funds she had, she purchased herself a trip to Cairo, intending on tracking him down and breaking some relatively important news to him. She'd rather he hear this from her than anyone else. And besides, a good friend of hers - practically a brother - recommended she take a trip anyways. 

[b][color=#9370DB]Life Before You Moved To Cairo:[/color][/b] The beginning of Gene's life was relatively uneventful. She grew up on a small farm in Wisconsin alongside her twin brother, George. While things were never easy and times could be tough, it was a happy childhood nonetheless. She'd help out around the house and the farms, doing the chores deemed to be more proper for girls, and was able to go to school to learn to read and write. 

When her brother left for the war, it was just Gene and their parents on the farm. She worried about him dearly, picking up tarot card reading as a way to reassure herself that he'd be safe - as if the cards could tell her what was happening to her twin miles away. There were things that she wished she could have told him while he was away - harrowing experiences of her own, ones that she had no doubt would've filled him with a righteous fury. 

But when he returned home, his face marred, Gene mentioned none of it and instead nursed her twin brother back to health. She had been learning nursing in an attempt to make a life for herself beyond the farm in rural Wisconsin and her brother's injuries were a steep learning curve, but she picked up a lot regardless. And as suddenly as he returned to them, George left. He never really had returned the same from the war - he was distant.  

Eventually, feeling restless and sick of life on the farm, Gene left as well, fulfilling her goal of becoming a nurse at a veteran's hospital. It was a way to feel close to her twin, even as they were separated once more.

[b][color=#9370DB]Biography:[/color][/b] Nancy's mother was a performer on the Las Vegas Strip, enticing audiences with her siren's voice and full, ample form. She had many admirers, one of them happening to be the Roman god Apollo. They spent an evening together in ecstasy and nine months later, the Vegas star had a tiny obligation on her skirt - a baby girl. The show had to go on of course, meaning that Nancy was largely cared for by the nanny. The few occasions she would see her mother at home would be whenever she had to nurse the after effects of drugs and booze. And while as a little girl Nancy viewed her mother as an elegant princess, things changed when Nancy became a teenager. 

Nancy was going through puberty and her mother saw potential in her daughter's excellent singing voice. The daughter of Apollo was added into some of her mother's acts, expected to dance and sing and amuse the audiences - but this only lasted for a couple of years. Nancy's mother saw her daughter's beauty and potential, and fearing that she would upstage her, decided to ship her daughter off to a girl's school in California. But instead of going off to boarding school, Nancy ran away and ended up in the Lotus Hotel and Casino on the Strip. 

She was trapped inside a place where time stayed still for about thirty years. During that time, she was a victim of sexual assault and it scarred her deeply. Roman demigods were at the Lotus Hotel and Casino for unrelated reasons, but they luckily managed to identify Nancy as a demigod and they more or less dragged her with them back into the real world. Her deepest regret is missing the rest of the 80's - and even though she has been in the modern world for a few years, she still hasn't quite gotten a hold of the slang.

[b][color=#9370DB]How Long Have They Been At Camp Jupiter:[/color][/b] Rescued from the Lotus Hotel and Casino by other members of Camp Jupiter, Nancy was educated at the Wolf House. Her letter of recommendation came from Apollo (alongside a gift of tarot cards to help her with her prophetic abilities, she thinks it was his way of saying [i]sorry I didn't notice you were trapped for almost forty years[/i]), meaning that she was placed in the First Cohort. She rose through the ranks and served as Centurion, before eventually being elected Praetor. While it hadn't been something she expected when she came to Camp Jupiter, she's actually really grown to enjoy the role.
