Hi, everyone! This is a Science Fiction Roleplay that aims to explore the effects of the Lear Corporation's products on Humanity.
I want to limit this to a small number of participants (3-4), because I want to avoid over saturating it with uninteresting characters, and instead focus on a select few, taking time to really develop them. Let me know if you have any ideas for Characters, and feel free to add them, so long as you feel a new character is necessary to the plot. Don't be afraid to use violence, but my intent isn't to create an action roleplay, but a dramatic one. If you're expecting this to be a Michael Bay film, this won't be the thread for you. We also don't have FTL travel, so assume that it takes about a year to get to Mars. Suggestions: -Responses should be 2-4 paragraphs long -Try to develop the plot. Straying from it is fine, but I feel like it should try to develop the story--or its characters--in some way. -Constancy is key! I've done some world building below to help people along with this. -If you don't have the time to write posts quickly, it's fine. Believe me, I understand your predicament. I think it's better to strive for quality over quantity, so take your time. -Overall, have fun with this, and don't be afraid to take risks! How to Apply: -Introduce yourself! -State what you'd like to see here, and write a few sentences about what you're capable of. Setting: Late 22nd century Denver, Colorado. AI and robotics technology is extremely advanced, to a point that many jobs have been taken over by machines. Denver's borders necessitated an expansion, as the city was developing too rapidly to be left confined to its previous area. These new borders extend all the way to Castle Rock. The protagonist (Kord) lives in a large apartment complex, which is 60 stories tall. Please note that these are only some of the things that are a part of this world. If you have something interesting to add, please do so! Characters: I'll add to this in a little while Technology: Automated Police Officers
The Police were seen as being too biased and incapable of working under pressure, and they have been replaced by large drones--which have a carrying capacity of two, on board tranquilizers, and a humanoid officer replica. These Cops have twice the strength and agility of human beings, but are devoid of any emotions. They operate on the basis of enforcing law, and capturing criminals while inflicting the least amount of harm possible.
Google Iris (Electronic Contacts) E-Contacts allow the user to experience AR 24/7. Society has taken advantage of this, posting virtual street signs at every intersection. Oftentimes, houses will have virtual furniture. Coca-Cola food
Coke is the world’s second most powerful company in the 22nd century, as it can produce GMO soy-based products at a fraction of the cost of growing crops. The food the company makes consists of food that tastes effectively identical to the real thing, while providing far better a nutritional value.
Emotion treatment-
People are treated for depression, sometimes by artificially stimulating the emotional centers of the brain.
Transcontinental Hyperloop Network (Rat Tunnels) Essentially Elon Musk’s hyperloops, but with a higher speed. It is possible to travel across the country in a few hours, and tickets are much cheaper than airplane ones. Repliholic Beverages Fake alcohol that tastes exactly like the real thing. It even contains biological machines to temporarily stimulate the pleasure centers of the brain. Weapons Exclusively military. These high powered lasers can be fired from space, melting most of what they come in contact with. Orbital laser cannons rendered nukes obsolete, as they are easier to direct, and cause far fewer problems. Advances in the Internet Common internet speed is 1.5 Terabits per second, but much of it is used up in neural communications, which are very costly to transfer A slower 100Gb/s service is publicly available, at any place in most cities. Computers Laptops are defunct. All consumer devices are now small portables. Programmable Clothing Clothes made of tiny fibrous robots, which has a manipulatable shape. Culture: Architecture -It's very flowing and organic, and concrete buildings are often layered with enamel paint, which comes in various colors. In order to take advantage of as much space as possible, a great deal of them are underground. -Raincoats are very much in style, even in desert regions of the United States. -The production of new paperback books has been outlawed after deforestation became too severe, but eBooks are still legal. Eating Practices It is common to eat with plastic gloves, and chopsticks are as common as forks in all restaurants The U.S. has adopted many cultural traits from Japan, such as the lack of chairs in some restaurants. Language Some Japanese words have assimilated into English, albeit in broken ways. One such example is the word "Konala", which is a combination of Konnichiwa and the Spanish word "Hola". Japanese is taught in schools alongside English. Ethiopian food is suddenly wildly popular In the southwest region of the U.S., Spanish is an official language, in addition to English and Japanese. Pets-To own any sort of wild animal is illegal, so most people have artificial or genetically engineered pets--some of which bear no resemblance to any creature on Earth. Music-The most popular genre of music is a combination of plucked strings and synth notes. They usually are accompanied by a single non-verbal vocal track. Religion- The population is mostly Atheist, but the two most common religions are Christianity and Islam. Geography- The Chinese Empire This covers a great deal of land, encompassing Pakistan, Afghanistan, most of Indochina, and all of what was Russia. This country is at odds with the US. Mars Colonies The first Mars settlement was established in 2082, and since then 12 more have appeared. The population of this civilian colony is around 10,000 people. Jobs are more plentiful on Mars, due to the high demand for manual labor, and new technologies to make life on the red planet easier. The second Mars settlement was established in 2134, by the Chinese Empire. It is used primarily as a platform for military operations. Geography of the United States -Some states have merged to increase the country’s efficiency. -The National Capital has been relocated to Cañon City because it Colorado is equadistant to most areas of the country, and because the US Govt. wants to encourage migration from the overcrowded East Coast to more sparsely populated areas. -The new Govt. building is 2 Kilometers high, and contains all three branches of government. It contains a complete replica of the White house in its upper layers, while the real White House has turned into a museum. Los Angeles radiation zone -The country of North Korea effectively wiped out the city of Los Angeles with an H-Bomb in the mid 21st century. The US retaliated by invading the country, occupying it, and claiming it as a U.S. territory.
