Would a monster expert be something allowed? Basically a soldier who is also trained to look for specifics on monsters. Identify different versions of werewolf or zombies or whatever so the rest of the team can fight more effectively. 

My thoughts are a cop who was trained in forensics and rolled into supernatural swat and trained to identify monsters better along with combat.
