Joseph rolled his eyes as the hackneyed speech began. The administrator just had to have his moment to harp about how proud he was of his school and their teaching. At least they moved on to something slightly more interesting quickly. Joseph had not seen much of these movie machines in his time back home, so it was something to see them play a piece for them. His eyes quickly glazed over when he realised it was just another way for them to puff up their image. Truthfully, even his jaded heart felt something as he saw the scene that played out, but he quickly reminded himself that it was just how things worked. Stuff breaks, people die, tragedies occur. His dad told him he would see his fair share of dark stuff if he became a soldier, and Joseph had steeled himself for that reality before coming here. What ground his gears more than anything was that they were using this recording to make a point about their institute. Whatever their reasons, it just seemed wrong to him. After the lobster finished speaking, it turned out it was time to eat. Now this was something Joseph could get behind. Less focus on puffing up their lofty goals, more focus on getting a good meal so they could get down to brass tacks. Once in the cafeteria, Joseph picked out a robust yet simple meal of meats and vegetables. A good solider needed an equally good meal to be effective. He was sitting down to chow down when he caught sight of some dog thing practically slamming his face into a pile of food. It was absurd enough to take his mind of his own food for a while. As disgusting as it was, Joseph couldn't help but laugh at the whole scene. The best part was yet to come, because some girl started to pet the dog. Joseph couldn't even stop laughing at this point. If this was an indication of how these people would be acting every day, Joseph was not going to be the least bit bored here. He was going to be well fed, well trained, and well entertained.
