The faint sound of footsteps slashing towards the stable prompts Dorian to give his horse a few final pats and turn towards the door. As soon as the mans steps into view the elder raises his arm slightly towards the boy. 'He is from before, the one with the pistol. It seems he is not one to rest even when his men do' He chuckles lightly as the newborn scampers over to him. Wrapping his arm around him he pulls the smaller male close, turning his face away from the man by the door. “Yes, we came along from my home town together on Horace. He wanted to get into the woods so badly that he ducked in at the top of the ridge.” The lies roll smoothly off his tongue, sounding completely believable and honest. “The lightning spooked him as one point though and he took a little tumble down the hill. He is quite the mess now, but he is unharmed.” Bringing the arm wrapped around the boy up he brushes his fingers through his hair lightly. “I fear a good scrubbing is in order.” He smiles at the man faintly. “You will forgive him for not speaking, he is quite shy, you understand.” Acting very much like a protective lover Dorian wraps his arm back around the little one and holds him tight. Looking out past the man's shoulder he chuckles again. “As for the monster, no such luck. If there really is one out there I'd suppose it's hiding on a day like this. And in truth, there are many other reasonable explanations that a monster doing these killings. I think you and your men should make yourselves more familiar with the beasts of this land. Perhaps then you will be able to identify the thing tearing into these poor people.” Sliding his hand down to the boy's waist he propels him forward, moving towards the door. As they draw even with the man, the youth on his opposite side, Dorian gives him a polite nod and murmurs, “If you will excuse us, I believe we will go dry off a bit.” The man nods back. “Sure thing squire. The bath's here are good, and if you drop you clothes off with Anna she can get them cleaned for you by morning.” “Thank you.” Dorian replies before making his way back out into the rain, the young one held tight to his side. Smiling down at him he whispers softly, “See, he didn't suspect a thing. Now we just need to get you cleaned up, and some fresh clothing.” At the door to the inn Dorian pauses, giving the boy a once over to ensure that there are no overt signs of blood exposed. Once he is satisfied he tucks an arm back around him and opens the door to the warm front room. The furnishings are not lavish, but most definitely on the higher end of common. To the right in the middle of the far wall is a large fireplace, several comfortable chairs and a pair of sofas set before it on a large hearth rug. Directly in front of them along the far wall is a counter with a large rack of keys behind it and a cheery cheeked plump woman leaning against the dark wooden surface. The counter continues on tot he right all the way to the wall where the fireplace is, but only a few feet along it converts into a bar. To the left of the counter is a large wooden staircase leading up tot he second floor, and to the left of that is a long hall lined with doors. The cheery woman waves them over as soon as she spots them. “Hello dearies, dreadful night isn't it? Don't suppose it was much fun getting here, oh my, you look soaked to the bone! I will have some tubs prepared for you, should be ready soon. Bath is last door on the left, second floor. Just leave you wet clothes in the bath, I'll tend to them later. There are robes in the bath, and nightgowns in the room. Now, who might you two be?” Normally the onslaught of information tumbling from the woman's lips would leave the guest stunned, and truthfully, she expects it now. However Dorian doesn't miss a beat. “Thank you ma'am, a bath would be lovely. If you would not mind, my companion's clothing is beyond repair, so if you have some spare, I would gladly pay handsomely for it along with my bill. My name is Dorian Helvek, I reserved a room a week ago my wire. If you would be so kind as to direct us to our room? Oh, and you must forgive me, my companion decided to join me at the last minute. We will share the room, however if it is extra to have two in a room I will pay that as well, no question.” The woman gives the two a knowing look, a faintly disproving note entering her voice as she looks up Dorian's reservation before grabbing the key to his room and handing it over. “There is an extra charge for the extra person, and I'm sure I've got something around here that will fit your, companion, so don't you worry about that. I will deliver the clothing along with yours in the morning” Taking the key with his free hand the elder resists the urge to roll his eyes at her tone of voice and disproving look at the young man. “I thank you ma'am, and may you stay warm on this beautiful night.” She simply nods back with a grunt and points up the stairs. 'She sure changed her mind about us in a hurry. But, no matter. We have what we need from her for now' Their room happens to be the last door on the right, directly across from the bath. The coincidence brings an honest smile to the elder's lips as he slips the key into the lock and opens the door to he and the little one's room. Closing the door behind them he lets the boy got to explore and lets out a long sigh. 'A bath sounds like heaven just now. Though one would suppose heaven for something like me would be like hell for an angel, heh'
