Apologies for not clarifying! Your character can be totally original if you'd like. Or they can be related to a canon character/family, though I'll be a bit more scrutinizing in looking the sheet over if this happens. They can't be too closely related to a family if it could in some way affect the Harry Potter storyline. TL;DR your charrie can be original or be related to canon - if it's the latter, don't worry about me and go with it anyway as it'll likely be alright in terms of the canon universe.
