Simple thing to start off a grand story but it was true. One might think it started before that. Started with the curiosity that filled you. The idea of sticking your hand inside the little hole in the tree. But no, it was a piece of paper. Nothing fancy on it, not even writing. Just a simple drawing of the tree itself, the very knot that the paper was hiding in elegantly visible. It was pencil sketching really, the hand steady yet slightly with an almost feminine look to it. The edges of each stroke slightly curling, almost a fluid movement of elegance and taste. It was the paper that really drew your curiosity. How did it get there? You look around. No one is around. The park is fairly empty. No indication of who might have left it. And from the feel of the paper, it hadn't been there that long. Who had left this? Why? You relook at the paper and then fold it back up. Pulling out your notebook you rip a page out. In hurried scratch, you write a short note. "Nice sketch." You put both back inside the tree. As you walk away you feel a bit foolish. Nice sketch? Really? You wonder if you should go back and remove your note but you don't. The next day you walk past the tree. You almost pass it by but you pause. Going back you reach up into the knot, your arm slipping down as your hand searches. You feel a paper. You pull it out. Your note is gone but the original image is there. Though in addition, there is now a little squirrel drawn scurrying up the tree. Below with a little bit of flourish and loops - almost a picturistic look in its own right - is a reply: "Thank you. You may keep it." That was it. Nothing else. Just a simple thank you and permission to take it. You do. However, you aren't sure if you should just leave the tree empty. In a way, you feel like you want to thank the person - whoever she, or he was. So you leave something behind. And thus it began. Greetings, I'm looking for a male or female who is interested in following this little mystery down its squirrel hole. Depending on who your character is depends on if romance will occur. It may or may not at all. I will only write m/f relationships so it will all depend on who you create for your character. But romance aside (though it will be a nice touch) the concept of the story is a bit mystery, a bit of a relationship - friendship have you - between two individuals. What starts as a simple exchange of notes could elaborate into something far more. Will they meet in person? How will this develop? Who is the individual? Does it matter? Or will it? There are a lot of possibilities in how this can go. One thing to note: At least starting out and until my character is revealed and meets yours, I will be writing more narrator style (as seen above). There might be other characters involved as your MC may or may not engage with other park residents but think of it almost as GM leading a story until my MC is finally revealed. Also, I did tag as fantasy as well as there might be some very low fantasy elements involved. I haven't really determined yet. Something we could discuss.
- I'm male, 27 [though don't let that automatically make you think my character is male. I have no issues writing either gender and could go either way] - I prefer PMs - Please be 18+. I don't know what themes may come but I'm not comfortable even hinting at certain things with someone underage. - I fade to black. If our characters ever do meet and a romance blossoms, the R rated aspect will be off-screen. Though, we can refer to and lead up to the scene. - Language, gore. I highly doubt we'll have any of the latter as I'm thinking this is going to be more of a fun, light-hearted slice of life RP than anything. The former, what your character does is what they do. Now if they curse every other word, it will impact the relationship of the individual (how many people do you know in real life would hang around someone who curses every other word?) - Writing style: I usually do mid-casual to low advanced. It will depend on this story and where we are at in it. A narration scene may be shorter than a longer interaction, talking about everyone in the park and such. It won't be under a paragraph (I try to aim for three minimum but this is a new style I'm working with so we'll see) and it may (hopefully) be a lot more. - Grammar: I am not a Grammar Nazi and will make mistakes. I have been writing for some time though so it shouldn't be too bad. Though, please no text speech. This is a story we're writing. A painting of words. I would like for it to be somewhat comprehensible.
Please PM if you are interested. I do work for a living and December will be picking up and becoming busier. I don't guarantee a post every day but I try to get you something at least (though usually more frequently) once a week (Probably more often but I like to err on the side of caution vs. over promise and not deliver). Either way, thank you for reading my short inquiry.
