Aaaaand done. Sorry for the abrupt ending, but I left it open for Cheriss to explain something that I probably should've mentioned...but I just got the idea a few minutes ago, so feel free to modify it: 

These Guardians are similar to the spirits of the Nightmare lands, except these are Voss who served at the Temple of Healing and volunteered to have their Force ghosts/spirits "bound" to the Temple as a way of protecting it. Over time, however, the spirits grow more restless due to the Voss insisting that they are only there as a last resort, hence their bloodthirsty ritual of sucking Voldon of all the energy he had to strengthen them for the final fight against the Gormak. I'd assume that Cheriss would know about this, seeing as she had a lot of experience with Voss and spirits. Any changes you'd like to make? 

Feel free also to have your post a bit shorter...I'll try and clean up Voss as much as I can before our charries can process all this xD
