Liz's first Pokemon Encounter (Route 1: Forest)

"Listen buddy, grab some distance, throw a nice leer at her. But be extra careful of her horn!! Looks like she is trying to use poison sting on you!! That could end this quickly for us!!" She called to her Pokemon. "Chim, Chimchar!!" It called back to her. She could only hope it knew to be careful. Chimchar moved to position and begin to heavily leer at his opponent.
Spinarak was ready for another head on attack, but then the Chimchar stepped backward for a menacing Leer. Spinarak didn't understand. This was a battle. Why was her enemy backing off like that? What was with that look? What was going on!? For reasons inexplicable to herself, the young Spinarak began to loose the will to fight. She was lost in the leer. She couldn't look away. Result: Spinarak Looses the Will to Fight
So maybe Leer isn't your normal damaging move, but you've effectively beaten the Spinarak mentally. She only had 8 HP left. After that leer, she only has 1 HP left (We might want to find another term than HP. How about 'Power'? You've gotten in her head and dropped her power mentally. Yeah..... power. In any case, now would be a great time to throw a Pokeball!
