The compound itself is located next to the lake at the top, at the far end, away from the waterfall. The compound is built up in a circular shape using tents on the outer perimeter and rudimentary wooden houses closer to the center. At the very center of the camp the essential buildings are located. Here you will find;
x The Clan main building.
This building is made of a foundation of stone, then built up with wood. It's the tallest building and can be seen from the moment you cross out of the surrounding forest into the flats where the compound is. It carries the wooden symbol of the clan on it's front, so that you can identify the location easily - it also marks the territory of the clan. Inside this building is where they will deal with visitors, clients or diplomats from other clans. It is also where the clan meets to discuss issues, changes and other important things.
x The Clan heads' family residence.
The second largest building in the compound, owing to the fact that the clan head, his family ad extended family reside here. The contents are quite simplistic and what you'd expect inside a standard home, as well as a private training room.
x The rudimentary 'hospital.'
The clan possesses a rather standard and small hospital, though it is more like a barracks where wounded and ill can be taken to rest. There is no real team of medical shinobi, as the use of medical jutsu has not become mainstay in every clan yet, so the process of healing has mostly been reliant on natural medicine and caretaking. However, the simple fact that this building exists here shows that the Sābanto clan can spare the resources and people to take care of the sick and wounded in a uniform way.
x The training grounds.
The young and capable of the Sābanto clan must be trained in the art of warfare - at the very least those that are capable of it. The training ground is sufficiently large to support a class of ten students if needed. When the Sage of the Six Paths sent his sons out to perform a task to see who would inherit the position of the Sage, by chance the Sābanto clans' village laid on the path of Indra. Indra did not teach them, of course, for Indra was lonesome and reliant on his own strength. Indra completed his task and passed by the village once more, where he was thanked for helping them deal with the tree, though Indra barely seemed interested. The clan saw this as a sign that they were too weak for Indra to even take notice, and began the arduous task of becoming stronger. They began training a small militia to support the village, though it was not anything noticeably powerful. Indra became something of a saint to them - although he wasn't quite the same as the Sage of the Six Paths, he was certainly a very powerful shinobi. And though they didn't revere him like they did the sage, they saw him as the rightful inheritor of the art of ninshu and the position of Hagoromo, the Sage of the Six Paths. They saw his plan - order through power - and agreed with it, so they began dominating nearby villages and clans and assimilating them. Through their own power, they would bring order to the region and end the petty feuds between villages and clans. However, without any ninjutsu to back them up, they were left to fighting with weaponry - sometimes they won, sometimes they lost, and this meant that they were incapable of totally dominating the region, which prevented them from becoming the first de-facto daimyo of the lands.

Age of Ninshu ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————— [sup]The period of time where the Rikudō no Shinsen introduced Ninshu to the world.[/sup]
During the Age of Ninshu, where the powers of Hagoromo were passed to Asura instead of Indra, the true prowess of the Sābanto clan was brought forth. When Asura spread his friends around to spread ninjutsu, the Sābanto clan was the first in their region to receive this gift. They were not so lucky as to unlock a potent kekkei genkai - a bloodline limit embedded within their DNA - but found they were capable with ninjutsu and had an affinity towards it. They were capable with fire and earth jutsu and found that they had an easy time overcoming nearby clans. But rather than domineer them, they destroyed most clans to ensure that their lands would grow and they would prosper more. From then on, only the Sābanto clan bloodline was allowed to live within their borders - anyone else would be taxed or would be forcefully removed or killed. Their support of Indra went largely unnoticed, or others simply didn't care. Indra himself seemingly also didn't take notice, and gradually the clan lost interest in Indra as anything other than a deity. He became more of a symbol for the Sābanto clan than a real deity to revere, and the Sābanto clan prided itself in having inherited his ideology and ninjutsu prowess (even if they didn't understand it or they didn't actually inherit it). It was during this time that they picked up the habit of wearing masks during battle. It was believed that in battle, the masks would cause fear to take hold of the enemies' hearts and paralyze them and, though this was far from a all encompassing truth, the masks did become a staple for the clan and as a result, whenever the shinobi from the clan showed up wearing their masks, it wasn't hard to guess why they were there. This started with simple ceramic masks that were purely there to remove the human that could be seen through the face - expression, emotion, all of it was removed with a simple ceramic plate. Soon they expanded upon it, painting it black to make it even more fearsome. Over time it gradually became a status symbol and members began individualizing their masks - giving them the looks of animals, demons and other things. Some masks became associated with certain people, who would earn a nickname, and others would become symbols of prowess - the bear mask was known for ferocity, the raven for quick wits, the wolf for excellent stamina.. etcetera. The Age of Ninshu was brought to an end with the death of the leader of the clan during a feud with a neighbouring clan. During this feud the Sābanto clan punctured deep into the forest where the clan roamed. The goal was to take the hostile clan leader prisoner as part of a mission - and to then ransom him once the mission had been completed. The Sābanto clan leader himself led a single team, while two other teams were inserted to cover them. However, it seems to have been a setup, as the teams were all compromised rapidly, as information had seemingly been played along from the inside to this hostile clan. The death of the clan leader seemed to prelude the coming of the Sengoku Jidai. The clan was taken over by the son, Sābanto Mokin. His vengeance would be swift and just, and would call in one of the first real wars of the sengoku jidai.

Sengoku Jidai ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————— [sup]Warring Clan Period[/sup]
With the rise of Sābanto Mokin, the clan plunged itself into a ten year period of warfare and feuding. During the Sengoku Jidai the clan brought itself forwards from an otherwise average position by battling other clans and slowly dominating others - either out of vengeance or to diminish their competition. There were few clans in the area that could withstand the prowess of the Sābanto clan when it came to ninjutsu, but it was their adept nature in fuinjutsu that gave them an edge, allowing them to perform impressive feats in battle that could not be mimicked by any other clan than the Uzumaki's. Their territory has expanded as such that all civilians within the region of their lands that require the aid of shinobi have to more or less hire the Sābanto clans' shinobi. This has provided them with additional funds, and the capability to lower their rates - money was coming in anyway and the added benefit of receiving more customers due to low rates outweighed the lost funds. However, the Sengoku Jidai has made exploiting this fact rather hard. The constant feuding and warfare has made it so that any excursion into the outside world to perform missions is a potential risk of death. Sābanto Mokin's first war was with the clan that executed his father and fellow clansmen. Over the course of two weeks and at least ten skirmishes, followed by a very large battle at the Valley of the End, the Sābanto clan destroyed whatever remained of the clan. Survivors scattered quickly and joined other clans or sought refuge in their clan hideouts - the Sābanto clan didn't pursue them, and because of the survivors spreading to the regions beyond, the word spread quickly that the Sābanto clan was very proficient in ninjutsu, fuinjutsu, and were ruthless in their pursuit of victory.
