He would have done almost the same thing using his sword had he not discovered a technical problem; Ryujin's Burn Dust reserves had been drained during the ambush by the Grimm, leaving only Lightning, Freeze and Gravity Dust, none of which could be used to attend to his wound without risking permanent damage.

Once the bleeding had been stopped, he would have more time to have the wound stitched properly, but right now he didn't have that luxury so he'd just have to bite the bullet and let the woman in blue help. Stepping closer to her so that she could reach him, he moved his hand from his bleeding and used both hands to pull his robes and undershirt away from the wound, allowing for the woman to apply the dust without it getting in the way.
