He is almost clinically incapable of leaving a subject alone once it's caught his interest, which is by no means a difficult thing to do. Many a night have been taken up by him toiling away in his room, researching whatever new topic has caught his attention. He can border on obsessive when he finds a new thing to latch onto, and has even been known to forget to eat on several occasions when he really gets into learning about a new subject. This has the natural consequence of making him as least familiar with many topics, though his familiarity by no means implies a proficiency. This also means that Bart is very good at talking to people, being able to casually talk about most subjects. And when people have interests that he hasn't caught onto yet, he's always ready to give them a chance to educate him. While he loves talking to people though, he often doesn't have time to. Either working or absorbing himself in whatever topic has struck his interest that week. Concerning his work, if he can be said to have any longstanding interests, programming and software design can be said to one of them. He's technically unemployed right now, but he's really freelancing because he wants to expand his practical experience, and work on as many projects as possible. Habits: He goes for a run pretty much every night, it gives him a chance to clear his head. Cracking his knuckles. He's lucky enough to have the financial ability to do this, by way of him not really having student loans to pay off. Scholarships, and freelance work through college was enough to keep him from the crippling debt that most students have crushing them. Life Before You Moved In: Much of Bart's youth was spent in the public library, which is where he really got his curiosity and love of learning. That wasn't why he started going there however. His parent's weren't the type of people meant to raise a child by any means, living off jobs that wouldn't ever last for more than 3 months at a time, unemployment, and entirely too much support from their own parents. Nights were spent drinking their troubles away, or vegging out watching T.V. Bart would likely off ended up with a fate like this as well, if he hadn't found his home at the library. In many ways, it was a much more welcoming and nicer place than his household, giving him a chance to socialize, learn, and relax. Bart's Middle and High School experienced continued well for him, being relatively well liked and performing well in his classes. It was around the end of Middle School when he found his love of programming and computers in general. He'd started learning and teaching himself about the subject after learning about Alan Turning and the cracking of the Enigma code during World War II. He found himself particularly enthralled by the idea of computers tackling problems in such rigorous and quick ways that humans would never be able to solve on their own. What made programming stick, as opposed to all his other interests at this point, was that it was something he could practice and develop on his own, without any real need for special equipment, guidance, or adult supervision. Not only that, but as he grew more and more proficient, he could use these specific skills to understand more about the world than he could've by only reading before. Now he could simulate and experiment with things, or put them into relational databases, and highlight connections he might not of noticed before. It was also around this age he started running for his school's cross country team, and while he never was the best or fastest at it, he found joy in it he'd previously been lacking, giving him a physical outlet for home and life stresses. He was top of his class when it came time for him to graduate high school, and went on for what amounted to an almost full ride at a state school. He stayed strong throughout college, majoring in Computer Science, and finding the focus of his classes refreshing compared to the educational menagerie that was high school. He ended up deciding to focus his studies even more on Machine learning and Natural Language Processing, which is why he chose to minor in linguistics. It was also around this time when he picked up Mandarin, mostly to round out his overall understanding of language. Around his second year, he'd reached a high enough level of proficiency that he was able to start doing freelance work to support himself. It helped grow him as a professional, and offered the extra bit of practice that a purely formal education could never give him. While not perfect as a college student, he ended up graduating Magma Cum Laude, which was enough for him to be happy. Life Since You Moved In: He's only recently into Justice this last week, and he hasn't gotten a chance to meet too many people. Most of his past week has been bogged down with settling in, updating his online profiles to reflect his new location, and only starting to get his name out there in search of more freelance work. He's been out on a few runs, and anybody who's been out at night may have seen him. In the past few days, he's been trying to make an effort to frequent local businesses to acquaint himself with the neighborhood. The first thing he did, however, was get himself a cat. He'd always wanted a pet, but never was able to have one up until this point. There was an adorable black, adult cat up for adoption, who he decided to name lucky, and take him on to live with him.

Extras
Character Quote: Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. Theme Song: I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General Dirty Little Secret: Bart will never, under practically any circumstances, talk about his parents with anybody, Since he started college, they were effectively cut out of his life.
