[b]"Welcome to the Xavier Institute for the Gifted! I know it can be a real shock discovering you are a mutant, but we are here to help you."[/b] The year is 2017, mutant discrimination is on a rise. Mutants can now be imprisoned for using their abilities even accidentally. Some of those mutants are never seen again. Xavier reopened the doors to youngsters to help them learn to harness their abilities while trying to bridge the divide between humans and mutants. On the other hand, Magneto has a more radical approach to dealing with the hate towards mutant kind, he has been recruiting mutants and storming detention centers to rescue captive mutants and doing whatever it takes to make sure mutants are protected. And in the middle lies the Mutant Underground, run by Magneto's daughter, Polaris, along with Eclipse and Thunderbird. They give shelter to refugee mutants and keep them safe and fed. Usually these mutants have visible mutations that would get them in a lot of trouble out in the world.
