I gave my character a number of powers, and your plan doesn't work based on a power she has you didn't know about. Not my fault. This is what, in comic book terms, is called "Building suspense." I'm basically building Kami up to be the biggest baddest big bad evar, and then, in the end, if you're lucky and have a good plan, you get to stomp on her face. Some stories have bad endings.
