Remember that your characters have no way of knowing that yet.

The only person that's seen him outside of the Academy is Sue, and he's kept her in the dark. They really don't have any reason to hate him, if you think about it. He's helped many of them before and he's only made a few prideful comments and done a couple of underhanded things.
