This has gotten a bit more attention than I originally expected, I admit, and it's been brought to my attention that the original plan of entry isn't actually feasible - that is, competing for team slots, with runners-up being entered as bosses, which to my understanding has gotten a lot of people annoyed and upset for various reasons, many of which admittedly relate back to my own conduct. Whilst there are some cases where perhaps rules were not read, there are others where I clearly didn't explain the matter sufficiently, for which I apologise profusely. So, here's what has been suggested to me as an alternative: Rather than competing for slots on a team, multiple teams are implemented, each containing a number of players apiece, depending on how many applications I actually receive. Within a given team, the rules of combat change slightly: no longer does a given team fight a ranking assassin all at once, but in exchange they're able to collectively challenge multiple fighters at once, speeding progression along. This ought to also speed up funding for a given fight, since any one assassin team need only collect the entry fee for one fighter, rather than my original plan of gathering five times that to let them all make the challenge simultaneously. In exchange... the competition would shift scope to a more traditional arena. First of all, whilst the original plan involved starting the teams off at 26-30, and having the initial fight be against number 25, I'd likely greatly increase the number of assassins between your guys and number 1 - maybe you'd now start at 101 and below, and have to fight 100 and up to get to the top. Considering how many applicants we've had, this may in fact lead to the endgame much faster than before anyway. Secondly, and speaking of endgame, serious PvP would become a thing. Naturally, there's only a few top slots for one team to occupy, and even one team will wind up occupying the top few ranks of the UAA by themselves. As a result, player assassins will wind up competing against one another to raise or defend their rank - and in the UAA, ranked matches are almost always to the death. To be absolutely clear, character death in a PvP fight, and perhaps some NPC fights depending on the actions taken, will be a very real, even a very likely possibility under these rules. I will strive to consider a fair system for PvP matches, naturally, but should I implement this system, I cannot stress enough that you as players must be willing to accept the consequences involved if such a match turns against you. That said, I don't want to make the current situation even less tenable for the players, since the change in plans has already been precipitated by bad moods all round. So, before I do anything drastic, I'd like to put it to a vote: would you rather keep the current system for applications and RPing, switch over to the one that's been proposed above, or perhaps suggest minor tweaks to either of them? Raw votes are a laugh on this post for keeping the current system, or a like on it for switching to the new one; any tweaks you want to suggest, or indeed suggestions for a fair way of judging PvP fights, can be proposed in either the OOC or the Discord channel. EDIT: Oh, and just as a brief reminder, Guild rules suggest not being mean to one another. Please bear this in mind when considering one another's characters from now on, okay?
