After the gruelling months of depressive uselessness, Matija had finally learned how to move her limbs somewhat akin to how she used to. With the exception of some loss on her agility, accuracy, and strength that she thinks she’ll recover to later on. All-in-all she found herself feeling pretty much the same as she used to. Maybe even better. But that’s up to debate at the moment because of the changes that she had to make to compensate to her body’s previously sluggish and broad movements when it was recovering. As she had previously concerned herself, she started working on her hand-to-hand combat as it was one of the most useful so far. If she was flashy before, she was more so now. She thought that the perfect person to regularly practice her newfound range of movements was her fellow coma-mate, Benny. ”We cripples gotta stick together after all,” she’d explain as the unfortunate man hung his head in defeat and simply agreed to be her sparring [s]dummy[/s] partner to which they had continued to be for the past few weeks. The two had settled in the Gym quite early, despite the fact that neither her nor Benny were morning people. The man was quite unhappy with the rude awakening but Matija had found herself too excited to wait for reasonable hours for people to wake up, “like 9 in the bloody morning, not 7!” as Benny had aptly put it. The excitement was due to Matija’s preparations last night. She had pushed aside literally everything that was not screwed down to the ship’s flooring in the Gym the night before. Not to say that she didn’t actually tried to unscrew a few more until the ship’s other crews told her off. The place was appropriated with a large jigsaw rubber mattings that everyone seemed to have forgotten existed that would function to make [s]Benny’s[/s] falls less painful. The man might prefer it as opposed to the Cargo Bay’s bare reinforced steel flooring. The two had been at it for almost two hours. They mostly used the time on breaks as Benny had requested while Matija would continue to run around and do exercises for herself. She felt like she had not moved as much as she should for the past months and she was more than eager to burn all of that stored energy by beating the shit out of Benny every other day. On their tenth set today, Matija had emerged victorious yet again and it showed as she straddled Benny by the waist where one hand was restraining Benny’s chest and the other that was curled into a fist falls less than an inch short of the man’s face. ”Guess I win again, hot stuff. How’s the score? 8 ta 2, right?” she said as she panted and grinned triumphantly down at him. ”I t-thought that was 7 to 2 and 1 draw?” he says as he slowly opens his eyes to recover from the reflex of closing them to shield his face from the incoming mock blow, and pouted underneath her. The blush on his face from the sheer closeness of their contact was hidden underneath the flush of exertion. Benny never was used to being in close contact with people, especially women, but he was at least now used to tangling with the white-haired girl. Matija’s grin fell as she hummed to herself before quirking up a brow and grinning at him again. ”Sure, babe. If that’ll make ya feel better.” ”Great,” he said dryly. ”Now can ye g-get off?” Matija laughed at Benny’s sore responses but she complied. She held out a hand to her partner and pulled him up as the speakers hummed to life, harboring Stryker’s voice. "Good morning everyone, welcome to another day in purgatory. I'm headed down to put together a breakfast spread, so in about twenty minutes, come on down to the kitchen, we all gotta talk about something.". Benny dusted himself off as he was getting up. ”Guess we betta’ not keep the cap’n waiting” He said in response to the announcement. Matija nodded to that and took a drink from her water bottle. She would frown when she realizes that it contained less water than it did before asking Benny if she could have some of his. Benny chuckled but refrained from handing over his bottle. “Consider tha’ draw my win and maybe I’ll share some with ye.” He said, jokingly. Matija simply huffed at that and groaned at the man’s pettiness. Then again she would have done the same. ”Fiiinnneeee! You win! 7 to 3!” She had to roll her eyes to that. An admittance to a defeat was surprisingly hard to do.
After they had cooled down, she took a quick bath before heading up to the galley where she was greeted with the smell and sight of what appears to be a beautiful breakfast to a hungry Mecorian. She immediately took a seat and hungrily devoured as much as she was allowed to take. The Coffee re-energized her too so she was more than happy to gulp it down. Benny meanwhile took a seat near her as he helped himself to the bacon and eggs. He amusedly thought that this almost felt like some weird family meeting with the casual air that the room had. When Stryker talked about Grayson and Amy, Matija found herself wondering again just how much had happened while she was out for them to be called lovers now. Not that she cared much for the blind girl and the gear head. But gossip was definitely a nice break to the monotonous routine in the ship. When Stryker asks about news, she thoughtfully chewed on the bacon as she spoke just a little after this Taleste person that she had yet to talk to. ”Well I think we’re getting most of our whatever back if that means any,” she said with a neutral accent before sitting up to get herself some water this time. Benny nodded in agreement to Matija’s statement. “We at least wouldinnae need wheelchairs ta’ get into combat. Not that it seems like tha’ Alliance has ‘ad anythin’ ta’ throw us at fer a while now.” Benny said. They had been briefed on past events by the remaining crew of The Revenant. Though they weren’t too affected by the losses they had sustained (as they were not particularly close to anyone on the crew yet) they did feel bad over missing all the fun that the others had been through.Their thirst for the adrenaline-high wasn’t sated much over the past few months, and they were itching to test their healed bodies out on something dangerous. Tibulus came in a little later and she greeted him by raising her brows while she drank her coffee-mixed-water. She would speak cheerily right after the water passes her gullet. ”Heyy..! Bonedaddy! I missed you~” She said. Benny would shake his head at her suggestive greeting. Under other circumstances he would have thought she was outright flirting with them, but after spending months with her, he had come to learn that it was simply the way she talked. The same way he often spoke with metaphors and euphemisms he supposed.
collab with [@Rultaos] because i thought Matija should beat the chub outta Benny. i was also told that this was longer than it should really be and i’m sorry. i got a little excited to post since i got a little time free time on my hands.
