They were a mixed bag. Some of them held meaning, celebrated something significant, but others were just a gathering of delinquents looking for an excuse to get drunk with the side effect of having to socialise whilst drunk. New year's parties were the latter, unfortunately for Ghost. So it was no surprise that, when it came to that one special moment, that legendary end of the year, he'd opted to hole himself up in his room and throw his own private party. He could get drunk on his own without being forced into awkward situations by other drunk people, so why not? Well, the Earth-shattering hangover he'd suffered from the day was a reason why not, one could suppose. However, celebrations were a week since over, and instead began the slow crawl of the first day of the semester. Alex had already arrived at the university, claiming himself an empty bench and occupying himself with depressing music and whatever piles of shit were being spread across the internet that day. A particular blog caught his eye, something that was being passed down the social media chain of the uptight richies that attended Columbia University - Gossip Girl. Anything with 'gossip' in the title wasn't really worth his time or attention, but he had time to kill and it wouldn't be long before he had the urge to just go back home and drink himself to sleep. God, he hated waking up early. The blog in question was just as he'd expected; a spectacle of pettiness and typical drama queen bullshit, ran by someone who clearly had too much of an ego for their own good. Alex scoffed as he looked over the contents, even if there was a subconscious wave of relief that he hadn't gotten on the radar of whoever this "Gossip Girl" was. Sure, it was a useful resource for getting some more information on whoever he'd eventually have to encounter at Columbia University, and a few that he'd already encountered, but the 'gossips' revealed in the single post alone were underwhelming. Though, whoever was behind the blog would have a field day with Ghost's history... if he hadn't done everything he could to bury it back in New York. All he had to do was keep ghosting it up and, hopefully, it would stay that way. This Gossip Girl sure was something, though, even if it was something that he couldn't quite put words to. Shaking his head and getting it out of his ass, Alex swiped the tab away and placed his phone in his pocket, sitting back and letting the wave of somber music fill his mind, as all the first day commotion across the school became distant to him. He wondered what this year had in store for him; would it be just as bland as all the others, or would this hot new trend of spilling people's dirty secrets take center stage? Either way, it would provide plenty for him to muse on. Maybe even something to distract himself from the constant teen angst of his regular, boring life. How fucking poetic.
