Honestly, he had no idea what exactly he was going to do with it. It was unknown whether the Red Lake Police Department had a canine unit that he'd be able to utilize for the purpose of determining if the scrap of fabric was even evidence in the first place then trying to track down Riley with it, but he doubted a small county like this had the resources for such a thing to exist in Red Lake. But potential evidence was still potential evidence, and it was something he knew the FBI Agent wouldn't have access to. In the city, everyone was accustomed to seeing strangers and screened out most others as irrelevant background props, but in small towns like these, newcomers were always novelties at a minimum, dangerous pests at worst, so generally he caught at least one or two starers whenever he strolled in.
