[indent][color=gray]Hundreds of years have passed in the Soul Society since the capture of Aizen Sosuke. Whilst many sacrifices were made in order to destroy one of the greatest threats that the Soul Society had ever saw, nobody has forgotten the history. The memory of those who had stopped him and his subordinates is freshly written into the history books and remembered well by the Shinigami of the new generation. Names of former captains were passed down as legends, awe inspiring godlike figures after their departure from the Soul Society.

Much of what was lost has been rebuilt thanks to their great efforts, and no longer are there the gaping holes left by the vast conflicts caused by Aizen himself. However, little of what once was remains, and nearly everyone who had previously existed in the realm of the society is no longer present. New faces have taken over what once was, and that includes you. Whether you are fresh from the Shin'ō Academy, or have been a seat for a year or two, the fact of the matter remains that you are a relative newbie in regards to those in the Seireitei.

How your life starts as a Shinigami is up to you to an extent. Whether you try to ascend the ranks, or remain fiercely loyal to your squad in spite of a promotion is for the most part up to you.

[indent][color=white][b]Shinigami[/b][/color][color=gray] or Soul Reapers as they are otherwise known are the regulators of souls and in some sense, the keepers of balance between the world of the living and the Soul Society. Their primary role is to purify hollows(corrupted souls) and help ensure the safe passing of non-corrupted souls to the Soul Society. In essence, their primary role is the governance of soul, and balancing the total number between the two worlds in order to maintain order.

Primarily, this is done through the usage of a tool known as a Zanpakuto which roughly translates to Soul Cutting Sword. Given by the name,
 they are the weaponry of the Shinigami that are capable of combating spiritual beings as in Hollows or other Shinigami. Another fun fact is that no two Zanpakuto are the same and every Shinigami carries one. Even those who do not possess the spiritual pressure in order to know the name/release their sword, they still are unique to that said Shinigami. They are reflections of the Shinigami's power and soul, and the name gives the weapon the ability to empower the Soul Reaper that wields it. More often than not, they have distinct appearances and often have personalities that are similar to that of the owner. 

It is important to note that Zanpakuto have two releases, Shikai and Bankai. Shikai is the first release of the sword and requires the Shinigami to learn the name of their Zanpakuto. Upon learning the name and communicating and harmonizing with their Zanpakuto, the sword effectively is able to attain the first release, which is activated by a release command. This changes the shape of the blade and more often than not gives it special abilities. The release commands can vary, from a word to a short poem. Bankai however, is vastly different. It is the final form of a Zanpakuto and is obtained once the user is able to materialize and subjugate their swords spirit. Very few attain this state. [/color][/indent]

[color=gray]I suppose I owe you all an apology for making you wait this long, and I will give it to you. I've had an exceptionally busy time over the holidays, but never the less, I apologize. Now that that's out of the way, I suppose we can get this show on the road.
I'm going to leave this welcome for new people to come and create sheets for a while, but once we reach a certain level of people I'll eventually cut off character creation until we stabilise.

Some things to cover however given the lack of clarity within my interest check. This world will be taking place many years after the original arc of Aizen Sosuke although the human world has not moved a hair. You do not need to know much about the series from the show as many of your questions can be answered by the fanmade wiki, but if you have any that they do not cover, then you can ask me. This RP will primarily be based in one squadron up until a certain point where people reach the level that they will be promoted to the rank of seated officers and thus start deferring from the squad if they so wish. We'll be running an original plot that'll slowly unveil itself made by yours truly.

On a final note, I'm going to need a co-gm. If you'd like to volunteer for this herculean task, just hit me up with a PM. Unfortunately, I have no friends otherwise I'd burden them with the task but given the situation I'm going to need a teeny bit of help managing things.[/color]
