Alexander

Alex watched with a slight smile on his face as his teacher summoned an enormous ball of lightening. She made it look so easy. He knew that the teachers were strong, they had to be in order to teach. But she had just trumped every tutor he had ever had, and it didn't even seem to make her break a sweat. Hell her hair even did some cool wavy thing. "Okay, I'll try." Alex said when she told him to do his best. He thought about what she said, about putting way more energy into it and then letting the ball expand. It made sense. He knew that he had been taught that before, its just that last time... No, that was years ago. It was time to get over it and move on. He couldn't keep holding himself back, if he did he would just prove his father right. Alex faced away from the teacher and towards the nearby trees. He always felt like it was a good idea to not aim at a person. He put his hands together like he had before, but instead of putting only a limited amount of energy like he had before, he pumped his energy into the ball, trying his best not to hold back. It was hard for a second, he was so used to trying to control every little aspect of his powers that letting it flow so freely was unnerving, but after a moment he managed to get over it. The ball formed much quicker this time, if a little shakier then the other one had been, and became about the size of a baseball. He pushed more and more of his energy into the ball. It felt...exhilarating. Just letting go like this, it felt almost freeing. He started to feel drained, but something inside of him wanted to push it, to see just how far he could push himself. He poured more and more into the ball, the excitement of just letting loose a little overpowering his usual caution. Finally, feeling like he was at the very edge of what he could manage, he let the ball grow. It went from the size of a baseball to a basketball, and then it was the size of a chair, and then a desk. Before he knew what was going on it had become roughly the size of a minivan. He felt overjoyed at the size of it, but it shook violently. The ball of lightening pulled at his control, demanding its freedom like it always did. Usually this would be were Alex would just let the ball dissipate, but something felt wrong. It had gotten to large, to powerful for him to force away. It demanded and direction to flow, it demanded its freedom, and he was too tired to stop it. If he let it go it wouldn't dissipate it would search for the nearest path, and right now that was Miss Drow. It was gonna be just like last time...it was gonna head straight for Miss Drow, she would get hurt and he would get punished just like before...he was worthless... he was.... NO! A small voice shouted in his head. He had been younger then, with an incompetent man for a tutor. For whatever reason he couldn't just make it dissipate, but he would be damned if he let it hit his teacher. In a split second he scanned the area. It was good that he had faced the nearby treeline. There were no students around and it was far enough away that what he was about to do wouldn't hurt him or Miss Drow. With one big push, he forced the large ball of lightening away from him and Miss Drow, towards the tree line. Free from control, the ball of lightening shot forward in a flash and slammed into one of the trees with a boom. Part of the tree broke off from the impact and slammed into the ground, sending chunks of wood flying away from the tree, but because no one was around none of the shrapnel hit anyone. He..he did it. He had actually done something with his powers! He started to turn so he could smile sheepishly at Miss Drow and apologize for the tree, but as he turned a sudden dizziness overcame him. His legs felt week and wouldn't support him anymore. Before he could actually say anything his vision went black. The last thing he remembered was a mild pain in his side as he hit the ground, having exhausted most of his energy. [@liferusher]
