Well, I guess there are worse ages to be. Looking for a showmance? Well, I mean, anything can happen, right? It’s not the reason I’m here, but I’m definitely open to it. I went through kind of a big break-up a few months ago - after two and a half years, my boyfriend told me he’s gay. Isn’t that crazy? *laugh* I mean, I’m happy for him, that he figured himself out. I’m straight, so I can’t even imagine how hard that whole thing must’ve been. Sucks for me, but I’m genuinely happy for him. *laugh* Y’know, it’s not the reason I’m here, but it would be kind of cool to find someone new. Where are you from? Well, I grew up in Maine, but right now I’m living in Philadelphia. It’s hella different, but in the best way possible. Do you have a job? I’m a database administrator for an e-commerce startup based in Philly. Nothing super glamorous or anything, but it pays the bills, and I love what I do. What has your life been like so far? Well, my mother is from Quebec, but I grew up in Lewiston, Maine. Got interested in computers when I was a kid, followed that interest to Northeastern University in Boston. Finished my undergrad and then kind of just, y’know, threw darts at a map, and the first city I hit was Philly. *laugh* I kind of wish I was joking, but no, that’s what really happened. My best friend did the same thing - she ended up Tulsa. Anyway, I found a house with like five roommates, and three weeks later I was in Philly. That was a crazy time - I sublet just in case, but we ended getting along perfectly. I’m still living with two of them now. Got a job, met a guy. Almost moved in with him but he came out as gay and dumped me. Y’know how it goes. *laugh* You just gotta roll with the punches. Any quirks, talents, or weird facts about you? I speak French fluently, so there’s that. Lewiston actually has a pretty big Francophone community, so I got a lot of practice growing up. Not that I had much of a choice. *laugh* I also know how to shoot a bow and arrow - I was in the archery club at Northeastern, I got pretty good at it. That was a couple years ago though, so I’m probably rusty by now. Oh, I play a mean game of table tennis. I know I’m not rusty at that. And I know how the internet works. Weird facts? I’ve never seen Star Wars. I’m low-key obsessed with Sentinels of the Multiverse. I’ve never actually been to Quebec. One time I accidentally got drunk with the headliner at a house show, and then I almost went home with him before his band got a chance to play. *laugh* That was a good night. Why do you deserve to win? ”Deserve” is a strong word… but it sure would be nice. And if you do win, what will you do with the million dollars? Pay off student loans, buy a condo… I want to bring Maman to Philly, but she won’t come until I have my own place, so that’s pretty high on the list. I’ve been thinking about grad school, too. It would be pretty cool to do that without having to worry where the money’s coming from.
