One—real name, Adam Lange—suffers from hallucinations both grandiose and subtle that strikes him whether awake or asleep. They are nebulous in meaning and purpose. Sometimes they seem prophetic in nature or are glimpses into hidden significance, and, at other times, they are seemingly nothing more than products of mania. But One always aspire to derive some meaning from them as it gives him hope that he isn't simply going insane—a very tangible fear of his. There are certain central figures that repeatedly appear in his hallucinations; he believes they are key to recovering his forgotten past. He detests taking medicine for his hallucinations as he feels it dulls him too much. Although not a subscriber to any creed or even a believer, he finds comfort in the concept of religion. Again, to derive some form of hope or meaning from existence.

He is bitter of his creators—those that gave him his abilities—and his would-be destroyers—the government and the army—alike, likening them to two sides of the same coin. His loyalty lies with those that share his situation. As a result, he is slow to trust and rely on those outside of that circle. He frequently offers guidance and/or a listening ear to those he aligns himself with and tries to make decisions with their best interest at heart. Despite a calm, inviting smile on the surface, subconsciously, he believes he doesn't deserve to be happy. The reason as to why is locked behind dormant memories but there is a persistent feeling of guilt that pervades his being.
