Gotcha. And I had thought Cecil was going to pull out his map, and then our PCs walk over and are like "You have a map? Where are we? We should try to figure out where the nearest town is..." And then perhaps captain would send us to go searching for help/civilization.

But if he leaves, I guess the rest of us can piddle around... Or Vena can come up with something to get the three of us working together without Cecil.
