Name: Paradise 'Par' Rapids Species: Human Age: 19 Appearance: Faction: New Republic/New Republic Diplomatic Service. Equipment: - Formal clothes made up of blaster-resistant fibres. - Ballistics vest worn underneath said formal clothes. - Small hold-out blaster. - Communications device. Skills: Negotiation - Paradise 'Par' Rapids is a diplomat first and foremost, and he knows that part of diplomacy is to know what people want, what people need, and what he himself can offer. If given substantial leeway and access, as well as allowed to keep a clear head, the young man can negotiate basic deals and agreements to benefit his faction. He also recognizes the importance of making people feel good about themselves, of charm versus intimindation, and tries to employ that in his deal-making. Basic Shot - In these troubled times, even a diplomat needs to defend himself from pirates and bandits, and the blaster is a fairly universal weapon. So Par knows how to use and maintain one. Agility - Par is naturally agile, able to move almost as fast as he can speak. He knows how to run, draw a gun fast, or dive for cover, or even duck when faced with a melee weapon. Piloting skills - Par is able to pilot Speeders, Starfighters, and small Starships up to a frieghter, having been taught to do so by trainers and flight simulators provided by his parents. He was still continuing pilot training until the start of his assignment to Hutt Space. Weaknesses: Untrained in Combat - Paradise 'Par' Rapids, despite knowing how to shoot as well as being naturally agile, is not someone you'd want to see in the front lines. He's not good at using weapons other than blasters, frequently defers to bodyguards for instructions on how to move during a firefight, and cannot win a straight fight. What he is good at, however, is running away and not being a liability. History: Paradise 'Par' Rapids was born on Birren, a prosperous Inner Rim planet with close links to Alderaan. His parents were minor members of the Elder Houses, the collective noble aristocrats of the Galaxy, and distantly related to the Supreme Governor of Birren themselves. For the longest time, they were uninvolved in wider galactic affairs, but then came the destruction of Alderaan when Par was fourteen, and the purges of Alderaanians themselves that followed. This drove Par's parents to join the Rebel Alliance in space, but not after they decided to take thei son with them; he cannot be allowed to become a hostage to the Imperials. Par's education would continue, but this time, more strenously. He learned history, politics, and diplomacy, as well as the workings of various alien cultures. The boy also learned how to pilot various craft with his parents' permission, though this was mostly confined to simulator work. And in time, he would later be allowed to accompany his parents to minor diplomatic missions to the Rebellion's financial backers, receive lessons in diplomacy from former Seperatists, and receive as broad an education as he could. Eventually, he scored some minor victories in missions to minor corporations, guilds, and rival guerrilla movements. These victories scored supplies, promises of non-interference, money and fighters to the Rebel Alliance, whose fortunes seemed to be on the rise. Then came the Battle of Hoth, and the nadir of the Rebel Alliances' fortunes. These were dark times, and Par could barely recall his eighteenth birthday as a rush of quick escapes from imperial pursuers. Par also found that people he had previously thought allies were withdrawing their support, or even turning their backs on the Rebel Alliance. Nevertheless, he found scattered triumphs in getting a planet to keep its allegiance here, and a financial backer to keep contributing funds there. But even so, it was clear that the Rebellion was losing relevance unless they struck one final time and risked all. But despite his many minor victories, Par was kept in the dark about the coming strike on Endor. And so, he waited, while at the same time being promoted to various diplomatic positions left vacant because of casualties during the Battle of Hoth. Then came the destruction of the Second Death Star, and the formation of the New Republic. And Par, having been groomed for diplomacy, received his first big break; due to the huge number of fronts that all needed diplomats, he was going to end up with the mission of building up a New Republic Presence in Hutt Space! Thus, at the age of four, the boy found himself being trained as a jockey for the Fathiers, the horse-like creatures used for races in the city's racetracks. At the age of six, he began being a jockey himself, racing other children mounted on Fathiers in order to win bets from the audience. And in time, he became good at it, and at the age of nine, the boy also found out that he can move things with his mind. He kept it a secret from his master and the other slaves, but began exploring the potential of his powers in secret. Then came a twist of fate when an agent of the Rebel Alliance, one Frederick Himmel, infiltrated Canto Bight on a routine mission, posing as a rich buyer of animals. Frederich thus ended up gaining access to the stalls where the Faltheirs mounted by the jockey slaves were housed, and met Alexander, who had turned twelve. And on impulse, Frederick bought the animal Alexander normally rode...and Alexander himself, thinking to use the latter to further his cover, then free him. So it was done, and Alexander found himself a free boy at last, but without skills other than riding and his hidden power of telekenesis. Thus, Frederick found himself having to stay with his young ward. The two formed a strong bond, with Frederick teaching Alexander how to read, write, and handle a blaster. In time, Alexander even joined the Rebellion in his own right, first as a fellow infiltrator, then as a pilot. And when Endor was won and the New Republic was formed, the young man, now 19, was assigned to guard Paradise 'Par' Rapids as the latter went into Hutt Space.

A large Karkarodon who serves as Par's bodyguard, Krak has a sense of justice that belies his predatory appearance. Distantly related to the infamous Seperatist commander Riff Tamson, Krak seeks to erase the shame brought to the family name by that general, while fighting the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. A good shot with heavy blasters and a formidable melee combatant, few cross him at their peril.

A bronze-plated protocol droid that is fluent in over six million forms of communication, AD-3PO has been modified to fit in a series of cutters, bblasters, and even a small flamer; this makes him an assassin droid as well as a tool of diplomacy. Polite and erudite, AD-3PO has gained a personality due to not being mind-wiped at all, a personality that causes him to dislike needless violence. But this dislike makes him a more effective assassin, not less, because he defines assassination as preventing more violence than it creates...

Mary Chapelle is a veteran of the Rebellion turned Heavy Infantrywoman of the New Republic forces. Born in Lothal, Mary nurses a hatred of the Empire yet at the same time has seen the Rebellion been ineffective too many times - she served before Jyn Erso's sacrifice - to be fully accepting of the New Republic. Skeptical of Paradise 'Par' Rapids' skills, she hopes she can prevent him from getting killed in the line of duty even as she believes the boy would accomplish nothing in Hutt Space. Thirty personnel, twenty-five bodyguards. Five Million Credits on the ship, and several bank accounts containing Fifteen Million more. What weapons the bodyguards have on their persons and on the ship's small arsenal. Faction History: Formerly the Rebelliion's diplomatic service, the New Republic's foriegn policy arm was remodeled after the Battle of Endor in order to gather new allies. Attached to Task Force Rancor, the New Republic Diplomatic Service seeks to find allies against the remnants of the Empire, and as long as the Hutts remain strong, find a modus vivendi with them. Now they sail for Paradise, distrusting Koren and the Golden Exchange and yet counting on their continued neutrality...
[@Enalais][@Sep][@CaptainBritton]
