Kai has never been the type of person to have a very intimidating visage. As he does come from The Big Island, life over there has been pretty lax, so Kai’s never adopted what some in California choose to portray themselves as. He’s perfectly comfortable with letting his dark hair grow out and enjoying life as much as he could. Of course, coming from Hawaii, one could expect him to have a very lean body type. Surfing is a very physical activity and one has to be able to make split-second decisions. So, having a fit, yet not very muscle-heavy, physique. Plus, he never was a fan of those overly-muscular bodies. They always seemed to be too much for his simple soul. Plus, given his vertical frame is no taller than 69 inches, it should be assumed that he’s at just the right height-to-weight ratio. Plus, with all of the physical activities he does, being a freak of nature isn’t in his best interest. [i]([color=lightseagreen]”You tell them, brah!”[/color])[/i]

Now that you know what Kai looks like, it’s high time to find out what he prefers to wear, no? Well, let’s just say that he prefers the simple route. In his closet, you won’t find brand name shirts or anything of the like. No fancy dress pants or some over-the-top shoes that would’ve cost him an arm and a leg. Despite his parents’ status and despite everyone around him wearing top-of-the-line attire, Kai has never been one to change his ways. Since living in Hawaii, he’s always been about loose-fitting, comfortable wear. Shirts that are easy to put on, shorts and pants that don’t cost that much, and pretty much the kind of clothes that would be easily removed for whenever he had to put on his wetsuit to hang ten or something. Though, of course, he would always adjust to the weather. If it’s cold outside, then you’ll see him in long-sleeve shirts and pants rather than a tank and free-forming shorts. But, always, Kai wears a beanie on his mop that he calls his hair.

I don’t know anyone on a personal level except for those who, like me, want to lie low and who just slide under the radar. If you ask me, I prefer it this way. I stay out of the drama and have more time for my own self. Plus, who really wants to deal with the high school drama when you can just relax and let the current take you, bruddah.”[/color]

Sure, I might have the tendency to act rashly, but does that mean I’m short-tempered? If you want to know who is the one with a short fuse, just go ask my neighbor, Veronica Salvador. I swear this girl is someone straight out of a manga - that’s a Japanese comic book for those of you who are drawing blanks. Anyway, Vivi and get into it a lot. I don’t know how else to explain it, but maybe she’s the cause for my anger fits. I do try and not let her bother me. No matter what she does, though, it never seems to work. Plus, she’s really easy on the eyes…”[/color]

I promise I don’t try to draw attention to myself if I don’t need to, but I’ve been told that I have really nice hair. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m a native of Hawaii or just that I take really good care of it, but no matter what I think shouldn’t happen, some of the girls at school whistle at me or wave to me. I don’t want to be rude, so I wave back and apparently, I have this tendency to run my head through my hair and shoot a smile. And that gets them to pay more attention to me than I want them to. [indent][b][color=lightseagreen]Fears? I’m not really sure what to put here. I mean, I’m pretty fearless. I surf on a daily basis. I engage in high-risk activities, so I’m not really sure what I’m afraid of. Would it be too silly to put that I fear I will break my board? Or maybe die while catching a killer wave? Maybe sharks. They’re pretty scary, but I don’t think they’re all that present in california. Well, I guess my family would be one thing I wouldn’t want to lose. Yeah, that’s something I’d definitely fear would happen. Not that it’s likely, but it’s certainly one of the few things that could really send a shiver down my spine. “[/color][/b]

[indent][color=lightseagreen][I]I’ll try and keep this brief. My family and I, sister included, used to live in Honolulu. We were pretty basic when it came to Hawaiian families. My father hit it big in the restaurant business. He owns a few chains of authentic Hawaiian cuisine places throughout central Honolulu and my mother was what you call a food critic. It’s how they met. Some years later, we, my sister Kala and myself, came out, and our family was complete.

My mom is a Chinese immigrant who came with her parents, but my father was born and raised on the main island, Oahu, of Hawaii. He had seven brothers and sisters ranging from three years to a decade younger than him. He is the eldest of them. His parents died when he was fifteen, so you could imagine how he took responsibility for them. It was mostly good, but there were certainly some bad moments. But with the help of social security and welfare, he was not only able to get all of them through that difficult period of losing their parents, but all of them have then gone on to lead successful lives. The youngest three live throughout the island. One is a hermit, another is a sale broker, and the last is a professional wrestler currently employed by WWE. As for his other three siblings, they all still live in Honolulu, running the Honolulu-based locations of my father’s restaurant chain, Hang Ten. Though, while they run those stores, my father has moved on to bigger and better things. 

But that’s enough of that. Let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Aukai Moana Chiaki. I know, my name isn’t traditional. I try and refrain from letting people know my full name. I tend to just tell them my name is Kai. I mean, it’s not like it’s false. If you look at my name, the shortened version is Kai. Anyway, it’s embarrassing and I don’t know why my mom would name me Aukai Moana. That’s not very manly. Not that I’m the ideal case of manliness or anything like that, but perhaps my parents were high when they decided to name me that? Oh well. I guess there’s no use in trying to change it now. What’s done is done. Hakuna Matata, right? Right.

Okay, now let me tell you a bit about what I’m about. I like to surf. Okay, that’s an understatement. Surfing is my life. If I can just sit at the beach and ride some killer waves, that would be the ideal life. But alas, I cannot do that, so I must balance that out with actual responsibilities. Though, I could’ve done that from the Big Island. Why did we have to move right when I was starting middle school, and be forced into this foreign land that is called California. So uncool, pops. At least my sister got the choice to stay because she got a full-ride at Honolulu University. Meanwhile, I had to stay with my parents and endure this foreign land. 

Yeah, just imagine how hard it was being a brown-skinned bruddah amongst some lighter and darker folks. Kind of makes me seem like a lolo, huh? Well, that’s how it felt. N’yways, they didn’t take too kindly to my accent and my poor use of their English language. I prefer my native tongue, thank you very much. Though, they didn’t appear to give any damns. So, yeah, I was forced to endure a few years of some beatings. Little did they know, I was packing(as they put it) some killer moves that made them second-guess messing with me.

And so, we enter the age that I attend Beverly Hills High School. This place was like out of that one, old ancient television series 90210. There were cliques and all of them followed an order of succession: there were the King and Queens, the preps, jocks, and then the rest were split into categories that were called ‘Other Cliques’. I honestly had nor will have any interest in those. Just put me where the drama isn’t present and I’m good, ya know? Yeah, I just want to slide through this cesspool so I can get out of here. But I mean, I have met some cool peeps along the way. They're mostly the loner and burnouts, but as far as I’m concerned, they’re my ohana away from my real ohana.

Oh, one last thing: my next door neighbors, the Salvadors. God, they’re great except for Veronica. For as long as we have lived here, they were the house next to ours and that Vivi keeps insisting to call me Momo. Like, can you not, girlie? I know it’s probably a bit hypocritical since I’ve stated that I hate drama and here I am trying to start some. Whatever, this woman gets on my nerves and makes me want to punch her, but I am the bigger man, so I don’t.

And that’s it for me. I’m pretty boring, I know. There’s not a lot to me. I’m just your everyday surfer who just wants to fly under the radar. I smoke weed and I’m a lowkey nerd. I have no over-the-top aspirations and, to me, that’s just fine. Not everyone needs to be rich or have successful careers, right?[/i][/color]
