That, above all else, was what kept Kai going through these troubled times of limited surfing. He only caught ten surfs today. Yes, that’s right: only ten. Of course, this was counting the entire day, but at the end of the day, Kai found that not to be enough, especially with all of the free time that he found himself having. His surf didn’t even encompass the entire afternoon. By the time he was able to get home, it wasn’t even five yet. Sure, he worked up quite the appetite and had a bit of a feast. Afterwards, he had to take a short nap.The keyword here, obviously, is short. Only an hour seemed to pass when Kai went to dreamland. Groggy, he wandered out to the balcony connected to his room and had the sight of a beautiful sunset. His house was just a few clicks away from the beach. The beautiful reds and orange that were aligned with the blues and greens of the ocean was quite the sight. Though nowhere as breathtaking as those that he remembered from Hawaii, it had been something that he grown used to. Hell, Kai might even say he enjoyed the sight that his room allowed. But the other sight he had wasn’t as beautiful. In fact, he saw the final boxes moved in next door. The Salvadors had new company. He couldn’t be bothered to remember who it was, but he knew Veronica had a new stepsister because her father remarried. He didn’t know the specifics, but ever since that happened, she’s been extra bitchy. As a result, she’s been taking it out on him. Kai would never begin to understand what he did to deserve such attention from such an unruly girl. She was easy on the eyes, that much Kai couldn’t deny, but she was the furthest thing from a delight. Always calling him Momo when he has told her more times than he could count on his fingers and toes to call her Kai. “God she’s a nightmare.” He mused, scowling at the pure thought of her coming out to her own balcony that was opposite to his. Funny how fate kept on forcing them to interact. No, wait, that’s not funny at all. “Better get back inside before fate tries to force an interaction with her.” Kai shivered at the thought and heeded his own advice. As his mind wandered, for the next hour, Kai did a list of things: showered to get the stench of the sea off of him, ate something light, and dressed in some fashionable, yet comfortable clothes. When he finished, he had a short conversation with his parents. His father would mention a party that one of his colleagues mentioned their friend’s son was hosting. Jeff something or rather. Kai rolled his eyes, but Kaleo was forceful about this. In his own words: No son of mine is going to spend New Year’s Eve alone. He tried to protest but his father wouldn’t take no for an answer. He even offered to let Kai use his Lexus. He sighed. Wanting to say no, Kai knew his father would insist. The last thing he wanted to do was extend this conversation, so he took his father’s car keys, exited the house, and got into his father’s car. So this was where I was at? Instead of chilling at home, maybe catching reruns of Dragon Ball Mega, I have to attend this lame party. Thanks, pop. Really, thank you.

[sub]Outfit[/sub] I N T E R A C T I O N S — No one.

Kai had taken the long way to the party. Sure, he could’ve gone straight for it at a few turns, but why rush? He certainly wasn’t in any rush to get to a party that, if it hadn’t been for his father, wouldn’t even be attending. But alas, that was a dead horse, so he gave up trying to make it hee-haw again. Instead, he would simply enjoy the view as he casually hovered his way to it. The closer he got to the party, however, the more obvious it became what sort of people were making their way to it. He saw all sorts of cars passing him as he was on the sidewalk. Cars that belonged to people he recognized from school and cars that had the sort of people that he wanted to avoid, yet he was heading right into the lion’s den. This was going to be a mistake. There was this movie in the 2010s that was about some family called We’re The Millers. Kai’s father was a big fan of it. Apparently, it had some actress from back in the day known as Jennifer Aniston. Truth be told, Kai never found the film all that interesting, but there was this one line in direct response to some rapper-wannabe when he showed the Millers his tattoo that had the word regrets misspelled by replacing the first ‘e’ with ‘a’. What Kai was experiencing was exactly what Jason Sudakis’ character felt when he saw that tattoo. What the damn hell did I just walk myself into? I have regrets. And not just a single letter. It’s the entire damn word. Kai parked his father’s about a block away from where everyone else was heading. The last thing he wanted was to get locked in by the hoard of people he saw were heading the same direction he was. Besides, the walk would be good for his approach to this. How did one enjoy themselves at a party they didn’t want to go to in the first place? Obviously, this would require some planning, though maybe not. Parties were known to be an enjoyable environment. And they were near the beach. If anything, this would be a nice excuse to participate in this party without actually having to endure the stupidity of the popular kids. “What a fantastic idea. Glad I thought of it.” Sometimes Kai amused himself so much that he forgot that talking to yourself wasn’t a sign of a healthy, mental state. Right, he’ll work on that at some point. But bottom line was that he knew how to enjoy this party and didn’t have to get involved in the politics he had made it his mission to avoid. Right, now that was decided, Kai could finally enter the jungle. Hopefully, none of the stealthy tigers would try and pounce. He wasn’t good with confrontation. But maybe that was just hoping for the impossible. Even if he wasn’t the subject of it, every corner he turned, Kai was either in the way of someone trying to get the attention of someone else or was being bumped into. Had he been any other person, he would’ve made a big deal out of all of the times he was mistakenly called on or bumped into. Instead, he tried to get through the massive hoard of people bumping and grinding and pressing the limits of his personal space just so he could get to the bar. He wasn’t a heavy drinker, but he sure could go for something soothing. “Whatever's fine, I guess,” Kai told the person serving drinks. He didn’t really care one way or the other what he got to drink. The only thing that honestly mattered to him was finding some enjoyment amongst the chaos.
