I just checked discord out, it seems pretty cool. I wouldn't mind that sort of thing, instant messaging is a bit easier than forum posting anyways. So my vote is on yes. 
Also, I love the idea behind your nation!! It reminds me of San Junipero from Black Mirror. Really cool.
