Five

Mumbling broke through the silence, interrupted by a loud hiss as the darkness gave way to light. How long have I been asleep, he asked himself as his eyes opened. The light blinded him for a moment, and the blurry shapes and colored blobs around him began to come into focus. Where. . . where am I? Gasping, his lungs burned with each breath, as he tried to crawl out of. . . "What the fu--". "Come on, lets go!" He heard a man yell from somewhere. He tried to look in the direction but his view was blocked by a soldier. Well, they certainly looked like soldiers, but he had no idea what was going on or where he was. The soldier grabbed his arm, and started to help him out of whatever-the-hell he was in. He put one foot out of the pod, and his knee buckled. His whole body felt like it had been asleep; it felt like pins and needles all over and it was hard to move. Not to mention he was shivering like crazy. The soldier pulled him the rest of the way out, and he stumbled into him and just let him fall to the ground. Taking a few breaths, he forced his body to obey and stood on his own. The tingling was going away but he still felt weak, like he hadn't used his legs in like, weeks? His eyes glanced around, seeing quite a few armed men like the one that grabbed him, and a lot of others coming out of pods. Something strange was going on here, and he wanted nothing to do with it. But, it was obvious he had to go along with this charade for now, until the opportunity presented itself. Maybe these others would be up for it? Glancing around the room, he looked for doors or windows or any way out. He looked at the guy at the door, and realized that he was the man he had heard earlier. Looking at the door behind him, he wanted to see what kind of door it was. Maybe one of these other guys has a key or card to open these things. Following behind everyone else, he allowed himself to be herded with the group, keeping his eyes open for a way to escape at any moment.
