I've never seen the show, but I did peruse the Wikipedia article and am very interested in this idea.

As to what sort of character I would like to play, I'm leaning toward some kind of leftist dissident. The Wikipedia article didn't really say anything about the status of, for example, the Communist Party, but I'd be willing to bet that it, along with every other anti-fascist organization, would have been driven underground (if not destroyed entirely) following the war.
