There is one thing on Grayson that does stick out, a scar. One singular scar that lies horizontally on his lower back. Skin has lifted and grown over that small patch, a daily reminder that there were punishments for his actions while he still lived with his father. The taste of metal from his father belt still singing on his back. His real passions lie in taking photos and writing music. While he might necessarily not be the best or the next up and coming hit, he does pride himself in his work. Ideally, Grayson would like to experiment with both or perhaps incorporate both into his career, but football is his most promising facet at the moment. What will college bring? Risking injury in sports that could end his career doesn’t scare him nor does the prospect of failure. He has no existential phobias that inhibit him from enjoying everyday life. And he faces adversity and danger with a smile on his face, so what makes him almost fearless? His father. It’s not much that he fears the man, but fears what he will do to himself or his mother, the complete usurpation of control and power that leave him sequestered and resigned to his fate. And mostly what he will do once his father is gone; having such an effect on his life has created a parasitic relationship he’s almost gotten addicted to.

| | I N D E P T H P E R S O N A L I T Y | |
There’s something to be remised and incoherent about with Grayson as a person. While many like to pretend to be something they’re not in high school, Grayson doesn’t have much choice. In some sense he’s two people at once and at other times he’s neither. For the most part, Grayson is the stoic rebellious bad boy type in every shape and form. Betwixt his dashing good looks and cryptic words, aided with his general apathy and disheveled interest in all things trivial, make him a hot commodity for the girls at school. Had it not been for the fact he was thrown to the assimilation of the term ‘jock’ he would have rather been a troubled wallflower. Despite his suspension of belief in himself, Grayson is quite charismatic and fearless while also coveting the safety and betterment of others. An alpha in the truest sense, taking care of his pack and ensuring no one is taken advantage of. While there’s no really sentimental attachment to his fellow peers nor any interest in pursuing relationships with them, the thought of bullies dissuades him from lending himself to everything that embodies being a jock. Undeterred by all this, Grayson tries to maintain his social standing and congeal with the flow of the high school archetypes. Playing the good soldier and son at home had made Grayson his own biggest critique, bottling up his trials and tribulations from his broken home and internal struggle. He tends to lash out at himself and conditions quite the self-destructive personality, his smoking and drinking was only a testament to this behavior in attempts to spite his father. Grayson tends to ride his emotions devoutly, his highs are rather passionate and full of life, while his lows tend to trigger volatile emotion and discord. All and all, Grayson enjoys his isolation as a means to save himself from plaguing anyone else with his baggage. His only escape is his music and his photos. Grayson’s father was a veteran of the United States Air Force while his mother was a book keeper for one of the local hospital groups. She was both looks and brain, almost a trophy wife if she was younger. Regardless of the matter, Grayson was mostly raised by his grandfather while his parents were away and working. The two were inseparable, kindred spirits in almost all aspects minus the disparity in age. His grandfather served as a teacher, a mentor, and a guide in everything that Grayson would come to learn. This is where the seed had been planted in Grayson’s mind, his grandfather’s love for all things vintage really played to Grayson’s interest. Countless days were spent in front of the old analog TV’s watching both silent and classical black and white movies like "It’s a Wonderful Life”. From time to time his grandfather would take him out to the park or wherever it may have been, and introduced the wonderful world of photography. While his grandfather had Polaroid camera’s to SLR’s, Grayson always carried a toy replica to channel the same energy. This went on for a few years and the seed that was planted into Grayson at an early age finally bore fruit and began to age properly. With each year his mind evolved along with his maturity allowing him to further enjoy the interest he and his grandfather shared. But as with anything, time is a double edged sword. Inexplicably his grandfather fell ill, initially what was thought to be an unknown diagnosis later progressed into late stage cancer with a number of malignant tumors. Before his untimely death his grandfather left Grayson with one final parting gift, a brand new SLR Camera. For a time Grayson locked himself away, but what else could a child do to cope with such an enormous concept such as death? Yet time was not on his side, whether it was fate or not, Grayson’s father was injured in combat on his second tour of the middle east leaving him unable to continue his lifelong passion. Honorably discharged and given an assortment of medals led to the taste of disgust and contempt in his father’s mouth. What Grayson had hoped to be another father figure to continue learning the preciousness of life and all it had to offer, was quickly ripped apart at the seams. With his return and general dismay of being trapped at home, his father turned to the only solution most people know, alcohol. Grayson’s father became a ferocious drunkard who took upon himself to turn Grayson into a man’s man, whatever that meant to him. Becoming the sole power in the house he dictated everything, his most poignant case was relieving his wife from her tenured career to take care of him at home. While his father became a belligerent and violent drunk who lashed out only at Grayson, he turned to his mother for help. This was all for naught as she solemnly and slowly became the ideal stepford wife, becoming completely autonomous. Only reliant on himself, Grayson was subjected to his father’s beliefs, his life was not his own anymore. Living vicariously through his son, he dismissed any ramblings or lessons taught by his grandfather. Instead, Grayson was forced to play solider and his father the drill sergeant. Things happened so quickly, over the years Grayson was enlisted into little league football where he naturally excelled even though he hoped he’d have a career ending injury, but the fear of ending up like his father deterred him from such. Like any solider he learned respect, cleanliness, and routine. Yet Grayson still defied his father’s wishes and practiced his photography in secret. Later discovering this mutiny, his father knew the last thing he needed to do before he broke the final straw on the camel’s back. In one of their regular bouts of conflict which usually ended in physical punishment, his father decided to break his mind instead. In an instant his father revealed his prized camera and shattered it into a dozen plastic and metal pieces right before him. Seething in anger Grayson attacked his father, which was unheard of. His mother had gotten in the way of Grayson hurting him, allowing his father to regain composure. It was then that he received his worst beating, the taste of metal from the buckle of his belt tore at the flesh in Grayson’s back. While all the other minor scars healed there was only one that stayed and reminded him of his disdain for his tyrannical father every day. Biting the bullet and seceding to his fathers will, Grayson went along without word of rebellion, following all of his father’s wishes. This bought him leniency with age, allowing him to experience the world and all its liberties. Once he entered Beverly hills High, everything changed for Grayson. He was once again introduced to the arts with an in school program. Photography was available to him and a new passion, music. Whatever days he could steal away from practice and school he spent with his teachers learning and nurturing the flower that had almost all but withered and died. With his newfound outlet of singing and songwriting for his guitar, the world at large and at home became a little bit more bearable. In the accompanying years, Grayson finally turned 18 and with it was handed his freedom. A car and the ability to be seen as an adult let him travel unbound, unchained. He didn’t have to spend all of his days at home dealing with the monotony of his father’s reign. It was a fresh start, something to look forward to.
