[@FiroIV] Well I'm thinking you're in a city-state (Think Ankh-Morpork in Discworld or historical Athens or Sparta just set in the 40s) and you either run a newspaper or you're a reporter. I can do either one but it starts the same way. You are a startup company essentially in the news business as either an employer or employee. In the city they are some NPCs of influence. For example you have the Captain of the Guard who might want you to be an informant or help expose another faction member, there's a religious leader who might find a certain member being a jerk, there's a bigwig movie executive (or his neglected wife) that wants your help to look into what could be the best place to film. That's how you get paid.

You can also talk to normal people and get human interest stories and depending on what the public (and influencial people like) they might try to sponsor you or try to block your news (or start their own competing paper).
