Kat was a bit nervous talking to the guy, he seemed like something was bugging him, and looked like he was just about ready to jump outta his skin when she talked to him. Her heart sank a bit when she saw how nervous he just was, his pupils very noticeably shrank when he actually looked at her, she guess he couldn't help it though...to society she was a second class citizen. Her ears drooped a little bit beneath her hat as she diverted her gaze from him, he muttered something before stopping, she wasn't sure why, but she got the feeling he must be insanely nervous. It hit her for a moment that maybe he was just like her little brother, and that maybe neither were social butterflies. He was shaking like a leaf when she looked back too...yeah, he was either deathly afraid of Faunus, or just people in general. She hoped for the latter as her ears perked up a bit under her hat once again, almost pushing it off her scalp entirely. She brushed her ears back under her hat as they walked, just before the boy said that nothing was wrong. She was a bit puzzled, but understood a bit better when he mentioned that he was always like this. "Yup, he was just anxious...just like dad said, making assumptions makes you an ass..." She thought as she thought of someway to still give him that figurative pick-me-up, because even if he was always like this, it didn't mean that he always had to be depressed. She figured that she couldn't just make him feel better right away, and so decided instead to break the ice a bit more casually. "Don't worry about it, I get funny looks all the time. You just kinda get used to it after a while. My name's Kat, and if I might, you have an interesting looking weapon there Mr..." She said as she put on the warmest smile she could, trying to get the boy to open up a bit more.
