Up until the point that the captured bandit raised his voice, Jacoby had been walking after the bandits at a measured and reasonable pace. He saw no reason to hurry after them, so he did no such thing. But when the captive started yelling about how his cohorts were going to kill a child, the eye in Jacoby's orb widened in shock. Jacoby immediately broke into a full on sprint, moving as fast as his legs could carry him. As he ran, Jacoby began speaking a celestial incantation that caused a silvery mist to pour from his orb and envelope him. This caused him to move even faster than before.
