Jeanne d' Luc - Potential [@ baraquiel] Idly she watched on as the students went about showing off what they could do. Like a hawk, she waited for light users to appear, and it never seemed to take too long. In a brilliant fireworks show, the first to show her prowess in the pits was a first year students, and her display was enough to get Jeanne to abscond from where she stood. Ever neatly, she strode across the proving grounds with her hands still neatly folded behind her back in parade rest, with boots barely making a sound on the fresh grass, until she finally stood at the edge of the fresh prospect's pit. The golden, hawkish gaze of the teacher quickly found the girl at the bottom, and the echo of her gauntlet laden hands applauding slowly in approval. With a light smile across rosy tiers spreading as her voice finally echoed into the depths. "Well done," she offered. "But not good enough. Good morning, and I believe it is necessary to hopefully push you to your limits." Pivoting around to climb down the ladder as well, she actually kept her grasp loose and she slid down the length of before landing and turning back to face the girl. Kicking some dust off her boots, her hands neatly folded behind her back once more. "My name is Professor Jeanne d' Luc," she began, having already taking note of the girl's weariness. "And I am the basic and advanced Light Theory instructor on campus. If you pass this exam, I will be your teacher and mentor." Glimpsing upward at the dove, a slender eyebrow raised upon her gaze's return tp Freya as she then continued. "You have the power necessary to join the academy," Jeanne stated. "But what of your conviction?" Her head canted to one side, as tresses of gold umfurled to hang close to the ground. "Just one display and you're already at risk of exhaustion. In my classes, you will be subject to rigorous training and discipline alike, and not everyone, not even some third years are worthy of graduation." Turning back towards the ladder and taking hold of it, she gave one nonchalant glimpse back at Freya over her shoulder. "I will give you reprieve until I step out of the pit, once I have exited, duplicate your display, but with twicefold the brilliance. Once I return after you have accomplished such, if you have not fainted from exhaustion, you will be worthy to join the ranks of my students." Quickly climbing up, and she strode away from Freya's pit, heading for a second spot where another light user showed potential. She knew all too well that the task she asked of Freya was nigh impossible, but that is what she wanted. The clue was in her wording, she asked to test her mettle, her conviction. Not her power. All she needed to do was to try what she knew was impossible, even if it briefly cost her consciousness. [@ Regitnui] With a dazzling multicolored display coming from the pit she was walking towards, she was soon brought to view Zeke's art. At first a light frown creased her lips, but it did not hold. "Beautiful." Her voice reached clearly to the boy's ears as she climbed down to greet him. "But you have not shown the necessary raw power to join the academy. While you have wonderful control of your element despite being a first year recruit, it is not enough" Like the girl before, she would remain absolutely regal in her stance and introduction. "My name is Professor Jeanne d' Luc, and I am the proprietor of both basic and advanced light theory classes." One hand slipped from behind her back and cast itself loosely to her side. Thin lines of light traced through the air, creating a long, pointed shape before filling completely with blinding radiance. "While behind the walls of the academy, you will learn to harness your element in ways you might not have ever even imagined before." She began steadfastly, "for example, when I was your age, I never imagined I could compress light so tightly, that it would harder than steel." The blade was raised and then thrust into a large nearby stone down to just barely above the hilt, and she headed back towards the ladder. "Show me you have the strength, the power to remove that sword from the stone...and return it to me." Smoothly she was lifted into the air as she spoke her final words. "Today, it will be heavier than anything you have ever lifted. Pick it up, scale the walls of the pit, and return my blade to me. Show me your strength and discipline. If you accomplish this, you will be worthy to join the ranks of my students." If the boy would draw near to the sword in stone, he would see that searing heat seemed to radiate off of it. To the touch against bare skin it would be absolutely scalding. Somehow, despite its massive weight and heat, he would have to navigate the blade from where it was dug in, to the teacher who was now slowly returning back towards where she had left Freya with her task. Just what or who would she in Freya's pit?
