ORIENTATION Gay Born the Third son of Bann Rickard Keir, Agravaine was at liberty to witness the ingrained Occupation at the highest level. His family enjoyed the luxury of life after their fealty for their Orlesian King had been secured and on paper he should have lead a blessed childhood. However, as third son, he was taught to be noble. To be a Knight. As he grew, watching the world around him with keen eyes and discerning the lies of his family through cunning, a terrible conclusion came to him. At the age of fourteen, Agravaine began secretly working with the Rebellion. It was difficult and frightening at times but the simple spy work he completed actually gave vital relief to their forces. Still, he was young and inexperienced and he truly wished to believe his father good. When he was asked if his father meant his offer of alliance, Agravaine said yes. He has carried the weight of Queen Moira's death ever since. The night he found out, he challenged his elder brother, Garahel, and father, how dare they do such a thing? To hear their weak excuses made him sick to his stomach. Garahel was placating but Rickard was snide, cheapening Agravaine's 'addiction' to honour and pride. Agravaine slew his father and fled his bannorn in the night. He eventually found the rebellion, but before that he spent many months in the wilderness, helping strangers and valuing the peace of being alone with just his horse for company. He fought well and hard for the Rebellion, pledging his alliegance to king Maric in a hope that it would assuage his debt to him. He rose high under Arl Gallagher Wulff's command, fighting a grueling and endless battle against the Orlesian forces just so that the majority of the Rebellion had space to breathe. He learned a great deal of war and its waging in those years. When news of his brother's death reached him, he found no strength to grieve. Upon the dawning of the new age he relinquished his title, choosing to let the name of Keir sink into the mud where it belonged. He swore a Knight's oath to Gallagher Wulff and worked dilligently and contentedly for him for many years hence. He marries a man named Calden Octavian and together they adopt a girl, Macha. Agravaine never believed he would have this kind of homely happiness but to have it is a singular joy. Sadly, it was not to last. Calden had a past and a dangerous one. After an unexplained absence around Macha's twelth winter, he came home to tell his husband that he had to flee to the Ash Warriors after murdering a minor noble family. Agravaine was furious, heartbroken, betrayed and utterly lost. He did his best to keep together and raise his daughter as best he could. They met again upon the field of Ostagar. Calden, now Sithig, amongst the Ash Warriors ready to fight the Darkspawn. Agravaine tried to avoid him, still angry, but on the battlefield he was cut down and nearly killed before Sithig saved him. He sustained a heavy wound to his leg and was forced to accept Sithig's help in returning to the Western Hills and save their daughter as well as the Arling. Many were lost but in the end Agravaine, Sithig, their family and their Arl made it to Denerim. Horrified and grieved, they had no mind for the blight and once the new ruler was chosen Agravaine took all his loved ones as far from the fighting as possible. He knew, with the mistreated wound to his leg, he would be no use to anyone. A Knight that cannot fight is of little use to a Lord and Arl Wulff sent Agravaine to Denerim in the aftermath of the Blight. There he made himself useful with soothing tensions between individual Banns, advising for military actions. Eventually the Monarch realised he could be very useful if his seniority was given authority. He agreed to this and tried to help. Eventually, whilst endeavouring to bring relief to the people of Kirkwall, he is met by Cassandra Pentaghast and, after a long discussion, he is tentatively inducted into her secret machinations. A man of action and knowing the devastation the Chantry explosion could cause, he agreed to help. Some years later he is amongst those whom survived the massacre of Haven and, during the Chaos, he takes command of the situation. He is eventually named the Inquisition Military Commander. Agravaine is a Commander amongst the armies at Ostagar, sent by his Lord with what few Soldiers they could spare. His leg is badly wounded in the battle and he only just manages to escape with his life, found by Ash Warrior Sithig (Calden) just in time. However he does not let himself recuperate, dragging himself back to the Western Hills to try and warn his Arl. He is too late for many but eventually Wulff’s remaining family and Agravaine’s daughter manage to flee North to Denerim with the refugees of their Arling. 9:31 (54): After pushing himself far too hard and not having his leg wound properly seen too, Agravaine realises he is no longer fighting fit. His limp is aggressively pronounced and he is nearly forced into retirement by Wulff after he collapses during a routine patrol. 9:32 (55): It becomes clear that there is little for a crippled war hero to do in a busy Arling such as the Western Hills. Worried for his mental state, Arl Gallagher petitions the new Monarch and Agravaine is re-purposed. He agrees something must be done. 9:38 (61): The Chantry dissolves the College of Enchanters and refuses to allow any future meetings. With Cullen leading the Templars, Agravaine begins managing the larger arms of the rising Inquisition. He draws many Fereldan Soldiers to the cause and prepares for anything. 9:40 (63): Cassandra Pentaghast, one of the few Seekers of Truth still loyal to the Chantry, and Leliana, Divine Justinia V's spymaster, set out to restore the Inquisition. Agravaine officially commits to this aspiration. 9:41 (64): Events described in Dragon Age: Inquisition begin. Divine Justinia V calls for a Divine Conclave between the mages and Templars at the Temple of Sacred Ashes to negotiate an end to the Mage-Templar War. The Conclave is disrupted by Corypheus, who uses an elven artifact in a ritual sacrificing Justinia V. The ritual is interrupted, and the resulting Breach destroys the temple and kills the assembled leaders of the mages, Templars, and the Chantry. Agravaine takes command in the chaos and is eventually named the Inquisition’s Military Commander. [/hider]
