Ayita had killed her. Was that something the girl was used to, or was this a one-off, life-changing act? Nina couldn't know, but regardless of how the girl felt, she was clearly feeling something... something alien. Wonderland had finally taken effect. Looking around to Damon, she winced as he fell to the ground, shot by Laine. He couldn't get anywhere all that soon, but she'd sooner have him try and move away from the area to avoid Ayita, especially in her current condition. "I can try and keep her settled without hurting her too much, Damon. You and Pietro go and finish the mission, I'll stay with Ayita and see if she remains stable." She said quietly to him, re-sheating her knife. The last thing she wanted was to harm Ayita, but if she became savage, it may be the only option. Regardless of that, the mission had to be dealt with. Charlie could see every movement that the speedster could make, especially around Sabretooth. Grabbing their foe, falling to the ground with Sabretooth's hands around Oshea's neck, and the sickening snapping sound it made as Charlie's newly-made friend hit the deck. At first, Charlie couldn't even process it. Surely, he was alright? It was probably just some weird physics noise that happened when the speed of sound was hit or something. Surely? But it didn't take long for Charlie to realise that Oshea wasn't getting back up - met with a glassy gaze of eyes that were showing too much white to be healthy, Charlie quickly realised that this, matched with the lack of movement in his friend, meant something far more devastating than just a fellow being stunned. He was dead. Staring at Oshea's corpse, unable to tear his shaken gaze away, Charlie began to shake. He'd never seen a dead body before. The fact that it was a friend - even a new friend - made things ten times to worse for the young mutant, one who hadn't seen much conflict beyond that of high-school bullies and their victims, mainly him in his hometown. It made things seem more... real. More personal. And that terrified him. Did he really belong here? Looking to Cassandra and realising that her expression hadn't changed all that much, Charlie at first felt indignation. Almost immediately after there was understanding. He didn't have to have been there long to realise that this was war. In war, you couldn't mourn for fallen comrades in battle. Afterwards, sure. But not now - not when there were allies to protect and enemies to fell. Charlie stumbled backwards with Cassandra, tears beginning to spring in his eyes at the loss of his ally. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he nodded stiffly in response to her, and raised both of his hands: One aimed at Sabretooth, and the other aimed at the newcomer that had phased through the walls of the room. Both of them would burn if he had his way.
