Activating her powers makes her body radiates a low glow weak enough that it doesn’t hurt people’s eyes, but strong enough that it can mask her features, an added bonus that allows her to wear costume without a stuffy mask. Photokinetic Flight – When flying she leaves a faint trail of free floating glowing air similar to her own unique light structure. Many have compared the trail to the Aurora Borealis lights. Light Mimicry – Much like her father she can also turn into a pure light being, but unlike her father she can only do so when moving, allowing her to only be intangible to pass through porous objects or things with gaps. When in her light form she resembles her own body, but with light flowing out of her resembling the northern lights. Photo-telekineis – She can release her stored up photokinetic energy in variable sizes, shaped, and concentration allowing her to move objects, make rough and fluid shapes out of them for attack and defense. Her control and output is less solid, but has more natural force and push allowing her to blow things away with a wave, or create torrents of light like a cannon blasting through walls. And it is much more delicate and elegant allowing her to perform more fine manipulation of external things by wrapping them in her photokinetic energy to restrain people, and bind objects.
Weaknesses:
Energy Depletion – Her powers are solely dependent on how much light she has been exposed to and how much she can store. This essentially makes her a living battery susceptible to running out of energy when she uses her powers excessively. This effect is negligible during daylight or whenever she has a constant stream of light, but at night or when she is an area lacking natural sources of light there is a high possibility of her running out of light. Vulnerability – She is incapable of putting out an endless stream of light energy around her body that provides her with a powerful defensive shield from all angles. The most that she can manage are her barriers which she has to actively maintain. This leaves her defenseless at most times forcing her to rely on her flight and light mimicry to dodge compared to her father who relies more on his outlandish power output to overpower his enemies. Construct Creation Incapable - The biggest flaw in her powers is it is not solid. Her father and grandfather released immensely concentrated photonic energy to a point that it became solid and hard, and maintained shape even outside of their body allowing them to create realistic constructs with destructive concussive and cutting forces. The output that she is capable of releasing is more akin to flowing water, fluid, strong when concentrated, but will otherwise dissipate when she releases her focus. When activated the light is strong enough that it can mask her features. Civilian - When not in costume or powered up Aurora looks much like her father. They both share the same red hair and many freckles dotting their faces, shoulders, and arms. She is quite tall, 6'0" last she checked with a lithe frame with decent muscle tone indicative of someone who partakes in regular exercise.
Character Evolution: Aurora is still very new and an inexperienced hero. She’s never had to deal with the type of villain’s league members have had to deal with, and this will undoubtedly cause her to doubtful her abilities and what it really means to be a hero. Balancing her career, her civilian life, and her duties as a hero is quite the task, something that Aurora has little experience in, and it will force her to abandon and question her current relationships in and out of the costume especially her marriage. The biggest thing she has to learn how to deal with is that she has never really played well with others, and now that she’s part of the league it’ll be real challenge to give up control. [s]Altered History:[/s] [s]Recommended Background Leaguer:[/s] BRIEF Bio: Different from her father and grandfather, that is what Aurora has always been. The original Ray, her grandfather was militaristic, authoritative, arrogant, and was never a part of her life. The Ray, her father was mischievous, carefree, optimistic, and did not want the hero life thrust upon him onto Aurora. Aurora’s father trained her and taught her just enough to use her powers as to not hurt others around them, but never had any interest in superheroics. She was raised and grew up rich and well taken care of. She went to private schools, had a well-to-do upbringing, and was supported by her parents. She had her streak of teenage mischief, but it was never truly that bad. She was intent on pursuing her own path as a healer, an EMT, and a very good one at that. Aurora had no interest in being a superhero, but the apple does not fall far from the proverbial tree after all. It was not an easy transition, she had no desire to be a hero before, but she was always a person who wanted to help. When her father, The Ray, beloved and celebrated hero of Philadelphia and ally of the Justice League retired due to old age, within days Aurora realized that their city needed a hero. There were other heroes in their city, but Aurora knew none of them could truly inspire hope like The Ray. She had the training and the skill set, and most of all the desire to help others. It was a very rough start, but with the help and advise of her father she would land on her own foot and eventually get the attention of the Justice League, it helped that her father of course was notable hero who put in a good word. Notes: - She is married to a wonderful husband who knows about her life as Aurora. - She still works as an EMT even though she has access to a fairly large trust fund. - She has a younger brother in college, and two younger twin sisters in high school, all three of whom have powers as well. - She often snuck out and did graffiti as a teen. She still does some painting on the side to fulfill her creative needs. - Her mother is a successful neurosurgeon. - Her father focused on building his business after retiring. Sample Post:
“Well clearly something bad happened here” Aurora said to herself in a whisper. She was new to the Justice League, and a new hero but it wouldn’t have taken an experienced hero to figure out there was something wrong with the scenario she was placed. Alone in what is essentially the home of the Justice League means that either something bad must have happened or someone hijacked her teleportation. Without thought she activated her powers. Faint blue, pink, and violet lights emanated from her signaling her course of action. She took off in a slow, but steady float off. Her first course of action was to head to the main area and find a computer terminal, it should have some information as to what happened. At the most she hoped to find where everyone else was. In an ideal scenario they would all just be in a break or a large meeting requiring everyone’s presence, but what was more likely to have happened is far more sinister. “This is turning out to be quite a troublesome first day.” Aurora said to herself with a hint of a smirk forming as she said it to no one. She wasn’t the type to talk to herself, but she supposed it calmed her nerves somewhat.
