She had been pacing around her house and making tea. Only making it, she kept forgetting about it and then it would be overstepped and bitter. It was her first full day back from California. Her mother's funeral had only been a few days ago. That was why she was frustrated. Her mother was gone, stolen from her by cancer. The phone rang, and Heather glared at it. She would rip it out of the wall if she could. It rolled over to voicemail, and her boss' voice was offering her a shift. He knew she was back in town, but she had requested a couple more days off. That was the proper thing to do after one's mother died. Heather paced some more and then grabbed her purse. She'd rather be at work doing something then pacing at home. It would take her a few minutes to walk there, which she preferred over driving most of the time anyway.
