His mother was Liu Yang Wu, a 19 year old law student, and his father Liu Wei Luo, a 23 year old thief with a fabricated back story as a photography student and part-time butcher. Struggling to raise their unregistered son while fearful of Liu Yang’s strict parents, the couple spent three months travelling with their son before abandoning him on an adoption centre’s doorstep. The agency took responsibility of him and registered him as ‘Chen Luo’ as written in his apologetic letter of abandonment. He was later adopted by American parents at the age of 6. Due to a pronunciation misunderstanding, his adopted mother had called him Jin Law, long enough for it to become preference before he was legally renamed Jin Johnson with the middle name ‘Law’. Jin was a generally smart but reserved child, quiet and reluctant to make friends. He did, however, enjoy reading groups and martial arts classes, where he’d reveal a more confident personality and take pleasure in group activities. As Jin grew through his teens, his love of books dwindled somewhat, though he would continue with his martial arts training with great passion. He became interested in conflict based psychology and topics based around survival. But Jin’s wellbeing took an unexpected turn when his biological mother, Liu Yang Wu, now 38 years old, managed to find him. Her intentions were good, but her presence unsettled him. She stayed briefly, sharing information of Jin’s first three months and biological background, as well as her eventual acknowledgement of his father’s criminal ways. She explained, however, that abandoning Jin was her decision despite furious opposition by his father. Liu Wei Luo passed two years prior, and had grieved the loss of his son until that very day. As a parting gift, Jin’s biological mother gifted him with a silver bracelet with a small silver dove attached to it, formerly owned by Jin's biological father. She said her goodbyes and normality would appear restored. But Jin, emotionally conflicted and discovering deeply rooted feelings of abandonment, instead fled from his schooling, adopted parents, and the small town in Massachusetts where he had been raised. He would leave without saying a word, and never return. Jin spent his twenties on the road, moving from one unfamiliar town to another. He worked both legal and illegal jobs, often based in security. While only 5’9, he aggressively continued his training in numerous martial arts disciplines and weaponry and proved himself a formidable force in a fight. That is, he was formidable when he wasn’t biting off more than he could chew and getting pounded into a bloody pulp. It wasn’t until his late twenties that he finally calmed down, but perhaps little too late as the world had begun to break down around him and the prospect of a better future had vanished.
