In the Pokemon world's feudal age, the nation of Johto launched an attack on the kingdom of Kanto, landing on the south shore. Normally sea invasions bring few pokemon with them, as they have to carry the food and water for those pokemon as well. This invasion seemed to bring hundreds or thousands with them, as the soldiers needed merely to throw what appeared to be an Apricorn at the ground to bring a captured pokemon into battle. The Johto soldiers quickly managed to secure a literal beachhead, and even capture a few villages. King Grey sent out messengers to every village under his control, ordering the Lords that weren't in battle to assemble their armies at his Castle Town of Pewter. The messengers also delivered secret messages to certain people who had worked as agents for the King's court before (the players), ordering them to assemble in the tavern of the village of Palegh, near the enemy's captured territory, and meet his agent there. [hr] We would have a few pokemon with us each, though pokeballs don't exist, just "Apriballs" which only Johto people have, so we have to take them with us like pets, and provide food (and maybe water) for them. Humans are generally Normal type, but we can learn pokemon moves as well. If a human can't do it in the real world, though, we may need equipment (including magical equipment) to use pokemon moves. For example, you would need a metal weapon/shield to use Steel type moves, or a fire stone to use fire moves. I have only beaten the first and second generation games, and only their regions are involved, so only their pokemon are allowed. I'll definitely need a Co-GM for this, as I have to many RPs going already, and need the help to keep the story going at a good pace. [hr] Pokemon are from "the stars" and are generally of roughly human level intelligence, but most lack much of our creativity, leading to us being better strategists and having better tech. They are called "pocket monsters" because when they first arrived they were hostile to humans. The only way we could befriend them is to carry their eggs with us, generally in pockets, and raise them among humans. Eventually they formed a peace agreement with humans around the world. They communicate mostly through body language, with their speech only being needed for verbal cues, like tone. Anyone can learn to understand them with enough study, and they all learn human language as children. [hr] [hider=Rules List:] 1) No god modding. Most NPCs can be controlled if you need someone to do something specific, but don't control PCs and be consistent with NPC personalities. Realistic NPCs make for a more realistic experience. (GM note: I would consider player owned pokemon to be a form of PC, so please get permission before controlling another player's pokemon. I'm just adding this rule to prevent future issues. 2/15/18) 2) Kanto and Johto Pokemon/moves only. I am allowing Alola variants, with the explanation that there is a Kanto colony there, but only use moves past Gen 2 with Gen 1 and 2 pokemon. 3) Humans are normal type, but can learn most moves if they have the equipment, magical or not, to do the move. If you want to use a Pokemon move that humans from our world couldn't do, give your character an item that they can use to do it. For example, Iron Tail would work with a metal shield by bashing them. 4) Kanto doesn't have Pokeballs, so if you want to keep your pokemon in one, you'll need to use a Johto "Apriball" and have a reason for your access to military tech from them. Pokemon will need food, water, etc. and will be subject to the environment. Some moves may require certain things from the environment. For example, Hydro Pump will require a good source of water. [hider=Co-GM additions] Rule 1 - No godmodding. Please be reasonable, and understand that you can't always win. Even if you've managed to make a team to cover all your bases. Rule 2 - Be polite in OOC. Be as much of a dick as you want IC, but OOC you should be polite. Because hateable characters are great. Hateable players not so much. Rule 3 - Kanto and Johto Pokemon only. You can have movesets from other games, but please only use Kanto and Johto Mons. Unknowable is old and still doesn't know what a Plusle and Minun are. (GM note: Yes, I do. They are Pichu knockoffs. Seriously, just have a Pichu that you treat as a housecat or something.) Rule 4 - While you can have more moves than the base 4, please try and avoid using every move imaginable. It's just polite. Rule 5 - Since this takes place in a Medieval setting, certain obviously artificial pokemon are out. (IE Porygon.)
