The term Badlands is usually used to refer to an area of barren land. It's not really a name, but more of a geographical landmass that can appear in multiple locations for multiple reasons. Kinda similar to how Hinterlands just means an unexplored area.

The Eru Barrens is a Badlands just as Saqquar is.

The major difference here is that the Eru Barrens is caused by Rain Shadows and absurd storms that constantly ravish the landscape making it difficult for vegetation to grow on the ground level. Rather than being a natural desert due to geographical location like being on an equator or land locked.

Here's what a Rainshadowed area looks like.

It's caused by mountains being high enough to force rain clouds to drop heavy amounts of water to actually go over.

So... where Saqquor would be a desert with dunes.
Eru Barrens would be a Canyon heavy location.
