Anchor, stealthy as a cat, manages to approach the temple without anything seeming to notice him from within. Galen, on the other hand, strides right the fuck on in after potentially dropping some industrial strength drama bombs (most likely without even realizing it). Not seeming to care about stealth, he takes a direct hit to the face by... nothing. There seems to be no trap awaiting him. As for the temple itself: the light of the setting sun coming in through the stained-glass windows shows several rows of plain wooden benches all facing West, where there stands a pulpit and steps leading up to it against the Western wall. Several feet away from the pulpit, also along the Western wall, lies a half-open door. Anchor, senses straining, can hear faint noises from beyond this door other than the persistent sound of the bell. Seeing as how the steeple is on the Western side of the temple, it could be reasoned that whoever if responsible for the bell ringing might be beyond this door.

As for the pair of you, you begin to check the houses nearest to the temple and across the road. The first house, the small cottage just South of the gate, seems relatively uninteresting. While all of the possessions within seem to have been rummaged through and most furniture knocked askew, it does not seem as though anyone is still here. The second house, just East of the first, seems to have taken a direct hit by one of the boulders, leaving one of the rooms a complete ruin of shattered timber and pieces of furniture. A second and third boulder are lodged in the garden adjacent to the house. As with the first house, aside from the fact that it seems as though a small tornado has torn through the interior, there is nothing of note here.

Trying (and failing) to be as stealthy as Anchor, has begun heading East and slightly North towards the faint sound of a panicked chicken. This would take you across the town square, a muddy open area that has a large hole right at its center as well as several boulders jutting out of the mud. Just North of the strange hole is a covered well, beyond which you can make out a pair of shapes in the shadow of the nearby building. In the deepening gloom it is hard to be completely certain, yet these shapes seem to be abnormally large dogs. Fortunately, they both seem intent on a third smaller shape lying on the ground between them and don't seem to hear you over the constant ringing.

Being the last among the [s]fools[/s] BRAVE AND NOBLE ADVENTURERS to explore the town, you manage to catch a few snatches of conversation. Currently, there are several main trains of thought, though one of the prevailing ones goes something along the lines of: "let's just move on and not go looking for trouble. Those crazy fellow can catch up if nothing ends up being amiss. If things are amiss, then we'll have a drink to their memory and appreciate the coin we didn't have to pay them for the rest of the trip." That aside, you do manage to make it just inside the city gates. It seems the rest of the people have split into three different groups- two heading inside the temple to the North, two heading to inspect houses to the South and one headed East towards the town square.
