The humans, Children of Dawn they are called, have made this world truly theirs, they are weak, they are slow, but they have still become a dominant force and have for time immemorial they have fought to suppress and remove the Children of Dusk, your people. You and your family, both the ones that birthed you or the ones that made you, hide in the cover of night, or try your best to blend into human society, but then the letter came, a sealed envelope, the wax seal was beautiful and intricate, a mark none in your family had seen before, however it was addressed to you all and read as follows. [b][i]"Dearest friends, The Academy of Luce Prima bids the children of Dusk welcome. It has been an eternity that the children of Dusk have stood next to the human race, yet always under their heel, our histories are lost, memories fade with the lives we have lost. Now is the breaking of dawn for these forgotten children, born under pale light, scorned by the sun. We of the Luce Prima have chosen to take matters into our hands, and likewise putting the tools into your hands. For the first time in our history, we have decided that we must open our doors and accepting any and all new students, of Dusk, and of Dawn. This may come as a shock, humans are going to be accepted alongside the children of Dusk, we have made this choice with the hopes that we can forge prosperity, create bonds, and end the separation that befalls us. We have lost much to the children of Dawn, but they have lost much to us as well, and none can truly say where the fault lies. So it is with pride that the doors are opened to you, any who wish to come, seek out our libraries, study arts and magics lost to our kinds centuries ago, or merely to reach out as diplomats, seeking a new perspective. All are welcome, all are wanted, all are equal.[/i][/b] You don't know what to make of the letter, there are coordinates on the letter. Could an invitation like this be real? Could a place exist that has accumulated the knowledge of the many races and held on to it be real? You want more than anything to go, for whatever your reason may be, you know that you must be at the academy. With bags packed and a spring in your step, you arrive and what you see is beyond expectation, a city, with a towering castle, like something from a fairy tale, though the buildings surrounding it are decidedly newer. Around this gate that leads into the massive walled in city, you can see a man with pointed ears, an elf, talking with a pale specter of a woman, a vampire, the sound of wolves echoes deep in the city, goblins pop out of an alley, and following them, a human child. It's real, a place where the Children of Dusk and Dawn have come together, in the hopes of making a better world. The nature of these scholars is unknown, however when you meet them, they are all dressed in beige robes with red and blue trim, their eyes are black as coal yet they smile warmly, they welcome you to the city and lead you in. A set of buildings have been built to house the new arrivals, many of whom came with out any belongings of their own, a dorm sized room with a restroom somehow seemingly tailored to you awaits and the tell you, "This city is yours as you please, live, grow, thrive." and they leave. Town seemed to bustle and you get the feeling that this place has more to see than you had expected. [/center] All right friends and foes, let's get down to the root of it all, this rp is a supernatural creature slice of life deal, I want a game where the players can make the world theirs, and I want it to have a sense of adventure and tension, drama will be a big thing in this game, I want the racial differences to be a source, but I want to remind all who come here, I will not tolerate hate between players, if a character is played as having a bias or dislike for another, fine, but if it becomes an issue ooc I will deal with it. [*] Have fun.[/list] [u]Example races[/u] [hider=Vampire] Vampires, their legends have been told for centuries, many of which may have been exaggerated. The vampire families across the world have used their immortality for many reasons, often times, they use this gift to make the lives of the ones they care for easier. These Families are very selective on the people that they choose to bring in, so many Vampires alive today are purebloods. [u][b]Pure blooded vampires[/b][/u] have a number of gifts that they use to their advantage, enhanced senses, immortality, and an unnatural allure. However they have a few downsides, the curse of hunger gnaws at the vampires, they are forever cursed to drink the blood of other races, the need only peaks once a month in the cycle of the full moon, however the vampire has no need of outside sustenance though they have no ill effects for eating. A misconception about pure blooded vampires is that they are unable to be in sunlight, this is not true however, they are weakened to the point of not desiring to be out much during the day. [b][u]Turned Vampires[/u][/b] on the other hand, have more issues to contend with, they have all of the same abilities, however, many times the shock of the turn and the change of lifestyle drives many turned to become feral, they hunt for the pleasure, they drain the life of others day after day, the hunger is a turned ones greatest foe. They tend to also have a worse reaction to sunlight, they feel a mild burning sensation, it is tolerable, yet noticeable, some believe that it is because of the strangeness of the pain. a Turned is made so by a compatible species drinking the blood of a pure blooded vampire. [/hider] [hider=Werewolves] [b][u]Werewolves[/u][/b] born or turned are all bound by the same rules, they are powerful shapeshifters that don the appearance of a large wolf, many of the packs that remain are led by purebred lines, however they do not seem to hold any particular advantage, every wolf is different upon the first change which occurs during puberty. A werewolf can change at will, however they are also forced to change in a full moon cycle. Werewolves receive boons from the wolf side of them, they are granted the sense of smell and some of the strength, however this is countered by the time it takes to change, a werewolf is weak and exposed for around five minutes in order to change. [/hider] [hider=Witches] [u][b]Witches, Warlocks, Sorcerers, Mages[/b][/u], many names for the same beings, creatures of magic and skill, most races can cast magic however the more common are humans, elves, and fae creatures. Magic can be seen as many different forces and encompasses many spheres, pyromancy, divination, abjuration, and may more are counted among the many schools of practice. [/hider] [hider=Common races] [b][u]The Common Races[/u][/b] comprise the mostly compatible beings that are the closest to human, they are still considered to be children of Dusk. [u][b]The elves[/b][/u] are the easiest to pass off as human, long hair to cover the ears and they appear nothing more than lithe humans, however they boast unnatural grace and dexterity, as well as keen sight. [u][b]The Dwarves[/b][/u] have a harder time, they are usually relegated to the depths of the world where they practice their crafts, however among the races of Dusk, the Dwarves have the best relations with humans as they trade in valuable materials. [u][b]Gnomes and Halflings[/b][/u] are able to hide well and many times are found on the outskirts and dark corners of human and dusk societies alongside creatures such as goblins and kobolds. [/hider] [hider=Goblinoids] [u][b]Goblins[/b][/u] Are the smallest and most common goblinoid creature, they are small like halflings yet are born into societies built on thievery and savagery, yet they are also incredibly inventive, some would say to the point of madness. [u][b]Orcs[/b][/u] are cousins of the Goblin, some believe they are the children of some union between a goblin and a giant, however, that is just a story, no one truly knows. Orcs are powerful and often clash with humans, however they are not the mindless beast the humans believe, they are honor bound and loyal to family, a true warrior society to the end. [/hider] [hider=Humans] Humans are numerous and varied, they are the most populous species in the world, they are strong, smart, agile, though all these traits pale in comparison to their adaptability, and the ignorance. Human have been the main antagonist to the Children of Dusk, as the children have been to them, they fight for every inch of land they can, they build cities and monuments faster than any of the Dusk.
