The Marquisate is located in the dead center of the Metatic. She's importing Grotlings to her islands, presumably by longboat, submaterium and cloud whale, and that's where the technology is developing.

Rtron and I had a vague plan to make them highly mobile Black Labyrinth pirates as soon as shadow tunnel trading convoys developed a little more, but we never went into much depth.
