That's how our story begins — all across the nation, across the world, just static. Static from phones, radios, televisions, and whatever other audio-producing technology that exists. Even if someone wasn't near anything of the sort, the static would swarm their senses; static in their ears, their mouth, their eyes, drowning them. The air was filled with static, choking words and blotting out letters. For one long, dragged out moment, like the dragging of nails across a freshly cleaned chalkboard, the world was united by static. However, just as quickly and suddenly as it had happened, it was over. The static got louder and louder, growing and growing, until everyone in the world slipped into a coma, all at once. Everyone, of course, except the 'heroes' of our fair tale. Fate had played its hand, bestowing immunity upon a group of people in the quaint town of Millchester, for reasons they would much rather not know. It was these people who were left standing after the static had gone, slipping back into the cracks of the ground and the walls like a liquid poison that ran through our Earth. "Hell exists, and it exists above us!". That's what the local crazy had always preached, holding up his scrap of cardboard that depicted Satan upon a throne in the clouds. No matter what religion they followed, everyone else in the town unanimously agreed that he was delusional, and never paid him much attention. Soon enough, those of them still left conscious will lament their choice — Hell very much exists, within and above all of us. Alas, the stars are falling, and with them come the poison within our souls that we refuse to acknowledge; the monsters we hide away from the people around us. Our flaws, our weaknesses, and our darkness. It's time to face your inner demons.
