@SantosGabriel77 airborne contamination with avian carriers ensured planetary saturation, everyone not immune or capable of being a carrier(not immune but host to the virus without being effected) are all thats left.  This ensured that any sort of organized ordeal fell into chaos as all not immune would start to turn with varying incubation periods.  

Electronics still work but there is no military and likely very few pilots alive.

There are no general group of survivors except biological, if you are immune chances are so are most if not all members of your family are immune, chances also are that most of them would be wiped out by the dead in the initial chaos.
