His face is cleanly developed, and free from blemishes - hallmarked of young adult handsomeness - and his body beholds something of a well developed nature due to his ridged training exercises. But his most standout feature is easily his piercing, yet still relatively soft eyes, coloured a bright and light turquoise, shining out from his calm and gentle countenance. Despite his obvious physical charms, wardrobe is primarily comprised of casual clothing, of varying jackets, shirts, and trousers of similar, if not identical style.
Personality:
Taking a look at his complete backstory, many a person would have assumed Joshua would find himself ruined. Broken. Cold, distant, depressed, riddled with mental illnesses and hallucinations of all flavour. They would instead find, however, something very much to the contrary. Despite what his classmates might have assumed, he wasn't a psycho or killer in the making, he is instead a gentler person. Cute animals make his heart melt, a good romance or depressing story makes him tear up, etcetera etcetera. He's a big brother figure. He's not cruel, not mean, not rude or offensive or anything of the sort. He's the kind of person you could talk to about your issues without worrying that he'll sit and silently - or even vocally - judge you. He's not much of a romance guru, mind you, but he does his best to give honest, constructive and helpful advice to people who need help. And he isn't shy, not in the slightest. One could infer that he might have anxiety issues of some kind, but on the opposite he finds no problems in stressful or otherwise tense situations where others might become nervous. It makes him easy to approach and become friends with, especially coupled with his otherwise kind and generous nature. But that isn't to say he doesn't have his flaws. Capable as he may be, having lost all his family - including the sister he swore to protect to mental illness - he has something of a jaded streak. At times he can seem out of it, or disdainful of certain things of people, or merely tired, though that may partially be due to his minor insomnia. Somewhere along the lines he also developed a bit of a sarcastic and snarky attitude, much juxtaposed with his usual kind persona, though he only really lets in show in foreign or otherwise anxious situations that even he cant find himself to deal with.
Backstory:
Joshua could hardly be described to have had an ordinary childhood by any stretch of the imagination, but he doesn't much consider it to be one of an uncommon nature. His mother married young to something of a rich and older bachelor who had nothing better to do than waste his money on alcohol, drugs and gambling. By the time he was even conceived, the man had already burned through a majority of the families money, much to his girlfriends abhorrence. But even then, he decided to try and make the best of the situation - taking the girl in marriage and preparing his best for their oncoming child. It didn't last long. The moment he arrived, Joshua was treated poorly, regarded by his so called father as a waste of space and a parasite on his otherwise perfect life. He would beat him when drunk because he had nothing better to do, and when he was sober just to make up for not being inebriated. But despite that, he never laid a finger on his wife - for that much, Joshua was happy. But the conception of his sister, that was where things went down hill. The mother was already struggling enough with university, and dealing with two children was enough to drive her out of school, nowhere helped by their spiralling alcoholic father drinking himself deeper into debts the family couldn't even comprehend. He would beat his son, and his daughter, and his wife, too, just to vent whatever he couldn't get out of his system with cocaine and vodka stolen or borrowed on credit he didn't have. The suicide of Joshua's mother gave the man the exact out he needed; he locked the body in a room, the children in another, took what little money the family had and turned high tail from the country, leaving them both alone, in a house with a corpse undiscovered until the smell tipped the neighbours off. They caught and charged him later, but the damage was done. The police found them both half starved to death, and they were taken into foster care for several years, together, until his sister was sectioned due to a psychotic break and attempted murder of her peer at school. Alone and seemingly unwanted, the son of a convicted murderer father and dead-by-suicide mother, as well as brother to a psycho, Joshua focused all he could on making his grades the best he could be. The experiences he went through should have broken him, ruined his personality, but the years of looking after his sister, both inside and out of foster care left him with a kinder outlook on life - that not all people were bad, just a lot of them, and he wanted to be one of those that wasn't scum. In the end he got a job, an apartment, a twice broken heart and a measly fortune to his name in hard earned cash. But walking up the stairs of the psychiatric hospital his sister was confined in, the world flipped. Reversed. Everything went everywhere, nothing went nowhere, and reality corrupted. And then he was drafted into a war in a world he didn't even know existed.
