Gifts
Collab between [@wildman13] and [@NecroKnight]
Around Katsuboyama a small recon team was surveying the surroundings. “All clear here!” One of them shouts out as the five of them gathers around, a strange looking iron mech in the middle of the clearing. The pilot was seen checking out and making some adjustments on the machine as the others pulled out some MRE and poured hot water into it. They started eating and within a few minutes they were able to finish it. “Ok, we're behind enemy lines and our goal is to see how much, forces they have and who they are.” The squad leader mutters as the pilot fidgets with the machine. “Tasuki, make sure the thing on top shape in an hour.” The squad leader orders him, briefing the others on other secondary objectives to keep in mind. In an hour or so the machine was on top shape and ready to move as Tasuki gets inside and the others climb on top of the machine, manning the mortal station on the middle and the machine guns mounted on the sides. The vehicle itself was just as big as one story house but, was barely as long as a car. It had four slightly armored limbs but, the joints were clearly an obvious weakness. Fashion with arms the mech was carrying a gun, that seems to be designed to take out armor. Still the mech body was designed to keep the pilot safe from most infantry weapons. Soon, they emerged from the countryside, and found themselves staring at Tokyo or what’s left of it. Their mech would soon hear the signs of a few trucks moving. Namely carrying 'supplies' for the Imperials. The smoke and sound of the old trucks would hide away the signature of the mech - as they would need to move it through the ruins of Tokyo and hope the Imperials didn't have any land-lines in place. The Tokyo area was humongous and if one played their cards, as the Americans said they could easily hide a mech in the ruins of the city. As the trucks speeds through the road the group, followed and used the sound as cover to avoid being detected. Successful the group entered the city with as limited exposure as possible, as one takes lead and signals to them if the area was clear or not. Following the alley ways, the team found themselves inside a garage of some sorts, the perfect place to hide the mech while they scout ahead. The mech forces open the entrance and fortunately having the truck close by, the sound was muffled as they enter the building. Inside the structure power was turned off and aside from the light that comes from the window, it was completely pitch black. The men on top turned on their flashlights as they search the surroundings for any hostiles. “Clear.” One of them says as the departed and started investigating the room. Tasuki and the other one on top stayed vigilant as they illuminated the surroundings. “Clear.” Another says as he finishes searching the two other rooms and the another one yells out from above as he finishes checking the second floor. The power soon, turned on as the captain says clear just finishing on checking the basement. “Ok let’s set up our equipment and you two make check the surroundings for any points of interest.” The squad leader commands them, as the two scout on ahead and the four started unloading and setting up their observation station. The streets were surprisingly open and devoid of life, aside from a few scavengers and the occasional greenies and avian stragglers the area was safe. The two mark a radio tower that they could tap into to eavesdrop on the imperials radio chatter or anyone using them. Aside from making some more warehouses and stops the two moves further away and even further to see how to get to the radio tower. The trucks made their way into the city, echoing, drawing orc and scavengers to it as they make their way even further inside the city. The trucks were carrying container vans of cargo into the city, aside from the loud noises of their engines the sounds of "cows and livestocks" from the container vans, the sounds of metal clanking. They soon, arrived at a fortified area of the city. With the driver disembarking in order to talk with the guard. He was well armed and aside from having a blue and green colored uniform, he had a large cross on the middle of his uniform. “Let us pass, we bring gifts to the imperials.” He says keeping his hand near his gun. "What do you people want?" replied an Imperial Guardsmen, wearing uniform that was more shabby than what his Clan counterpart was wearing. Although compared to them, the Imperials outfit was more combat-oriented. As the situation was the attitude between the more Imperialistic faction and the Hoji Clan was anything but friendly. Namely cause the Imperials wished to remain rooted in their Traditional Culture - while the Clan all but embraced Western ideals and even forced their people to accept Christianity. More so, as a means of control than any decent religion - as many others saw it. Heck, even the Communists of the North had better relationships with the Imperials, than their Southern counterparts. Namely as the PRE had not much interest in abusing its people over religious values, nor try to keep the old Soviet belief alive - once the Cold War ended. If anything the Ainu were seen as more welcoming to the traditional Japanese than the Southern Clan was. "Step aside we're here to help." He answers urging to the container vans on the back of the vans. "We wish that you and the imperials to help us the southern part of japan is in dire need and we offer this gift as our sign of friendship." He adds as he waits for his answer. The two on the other way was trying to plant a bug into the radio making their signal more powerful and to tap more into the imperials radio network. The two after finishing their job returned to the listening post. "Good work out there, we are starting to extract data from them." The squad leader said as one of them listen carefully and have been taking in notes and other various things of interest about the imperials and some other clan or what not, suggesting that someone was helping the imperial. Those whom had hacked into the network, would soon hear about talks between the various radio-operators. As they namely requested clearance from the higher-up and soon enough were granted the option. Although under guard, as they were asked to get some soldiers and also some snipers placed around various locations. It seemed the Imperials were willing to accept help from the Southern Clans. Although it was under heavy security it seemed - there also seemed some talks about aid from the sea. Although what it was, nobody would know yet - since those talks were replaced with discussions about the arrival of the Hoji's. "Looks like our boys got in." The leader says as they further listen onto the radio. Tasuki started working on his mech. The two that scouted ahead was finally back with a few supplies that they got from scavenging in a nearby convenience store. The trucks move on using the open road to make their way further inside. "Turn it on." The driver says as the speakers turns on broadcasting that. "UNDER THE MERCY OF THE PAPAL QUEEN, THE HOJI CLAN BRINGS FOOD TO THE PEOPLE!" I announce as starving scavengers emerged from their hiding spots to look for food. the trucks separated and went through out various parts of the city. As they one of them stops by opening its side windows revealing a small soup kitchen where they in turn were serving hot soup and rice to match. They carefully listen at the reaction of the imperials with the sudden art. Needless to say, many Imperials didn't like the Hoji taking the option of separating into numerous locations - as the current commander ordered many of the stationed Imperials to go in and intercept the trucks. While there might have been the occasional person, that had taken shelter and were just going out for a free handover. Most of the population had been secured in key locations - while nobody would turn down free food, it was evident many felt dis-trusting with the Hoji still. As not many stuck around, once they got their food. As many still knew about the Hoji' policies in-general. Namely the blaring of their declaration only proceeded to make the Imperials even more nervous and move into action, sooner than later. As such, whatever the Hoji Clan had in mind, it would need to act soon enough - before the Imperials decided to seize control of the Hoji Clan' wannabee attempt at gaining sympathy. As the last of the food was gone the chef urges the others to line up in the back so that he can give the leftovers or what’s left. "It’s almost done let me prepare them." He screams out as he closes the side windows, the doors in the reels opened but, to their surprise it wasn't food but, starving orcs, and ghouls where right in front of them eyeing one another for the unbelievable situation they found themselves in. The staring contest abruptly ended as axes started flying in the air and with the orcs letting out a powerful roar as they charge at the unprepared civvies. "DEATH TO THE UNBELIEVERS!" The driver broadcasts, as he floors it with most of the "cargo was delivered". Some of the drivers wouldn't get far - as the Imperials having expected deception soon ordered lethal force to be utilized. Namely, as soon enough sniper fire was unleashed - some of the windshields being shattered by rather accurate fire and killing the drivers. For the remaining beasts let loose, the order soon went out to get Squads down into those locations and hunt down the Freaks. While the civilians were told to flee towards the inner City - where Imperial Forces would be coming to help deal with this minor skirmish. In the cover of gunfire, the Hoji Clan would have the perfect moment to move out with their assault mech. "Show time tasuki." The squad leader said as Tasuki quickly entered his mech and moved out, getting his anti-tank rifle with him. The other four locked and loaded as they sneak off from the buildings quickly grabbing their equipment, leaving the radioman alone to get as much information as humanly possible. In the trucks however, the soldiers quickly grabbed the propane tanks and toss them outside and with a well-placed shot. It explodes engulfing the nearby buildings in the left covered in flames. Soon, the fire spreads as they toss out another one to the other side, blowing it. Using it as an improvise barricade from the imperials. Tasuki surveys the area and hunts for any snipers nearby picking them off with his rifle. The squad leader sneaks their way around as they place charges and to hunt down any hostiles in their area. Soon, his group found himself next to a forward command center. using the gun fire outside to mask their weapons as they shoot at the guards. The Imperials soon got busy namely hunting down the Hoji Clan's soldiers. While also organizing numerous soldiers and civilians into making sure the fire didn't spread and destroy the entirety of Tokyo. As the rest of Tasuki' group went around and unleashed devastation and confusion among Imperial lines. Allowing the other four to get closer to the Imperial HQ in the chaos. While Tasuki had the advantage of firepower, once some snipers saw his mech approaching - they soon bugged out and utilized a tactic of one-shotting-and-running. Although once the Clan' squad reached the Forward Command Center - they had their entire area filled with smoke. Soon enough one of their own was cleaved half from the middle, while another ended up having four shots hit his chest, before he dropped. The squad leader in the thick smoke would be able only to make out the appearance of a strange figure. Namely, their movement was rather acrobatic and quick. What might make him worried more, was the fact this person was heavily tattooed - enough that their face was covered. It was bad on both ends, since only Ainu practiced tattooing - while among the military only the deadly Alpha Group, allowed such markings to remain after basic training. Seeing the threat of what it was the squad leader threw a flash bang in an attempt blind her. "For god!" One of them screams out, pulling out a HE grenade from his pockets, as he charge into her with his smg unloading all of his clip. The squad leader and the only remaining member they had left ducked for it as they shield their eyes from the flashbang and from the explosion that sooned followed. Meanwhile Tasuki was busy rescuing the trapped soldiers in the trucks. letting them board and high him around as they man the mortar and the machine guns on top. Suppressing and raining down explosive shells around the city. While they would get snipe by the enemy the Hoji warriors accept their fate and continued shooting down the enemy. Tasuki focused his fire at enemy armor as his massive AP round can easily penetrates through the vehicles hull. Needless to say, what they missed was having their 'eager' soldier - miss most of his rounds due to running with a full-auto SMG. While the Alpha member, took some damage, she kept her cool and simply slashed off the hand of the idiot and threw his body down onto the grenade. Soon enough, three more members of the Alpha Group arrived - almost out of nowhere. They easily soon disabled the last two soldiers. Namely one kick to the nearby soldier' chin, which was followed by the sound of something rather important cracking - as the soldier collapsed, unmoving on the ground. While the squad leader, got a rather swift jab into the back of his neck - to knock him, paralyzed onto the ground. As Tasuki kept on walking, the radio-operator would soon hear the death-rattle of their mech, as soon enough communication was exchanged in a foreign yet familiar tongue. Namely Ainu, as several RPGs were fired at the leg-structure of the giant mech, that seemed to be now the largest and loudest target in the vicinity. While the RPG wasn't as highly advanced as the Hoji' mech - it wasn't needed to be, just do its rather robust job of destroying anything it was fired at. Combined with at least five of them, hitting the leg structure that was used to keep the entire mech stable. The squad leader was captured with the remains of his squad and with their mech done for, the remaining soldiers made a run for it, as they try to retreat using the burning houses and alleyways to their advantage. The trucks were silent as the driver lay silent. A lot of the houses were burning but, with the combine effort they were able to isolate the fires in areas of the city. While the mech legs were blown to bits, the surviving soldiers on top fell to the ground, while some of them were trapped, died or crushed by the cockpit that somehow remained relatively intact. Tasuki lays there still alive but, bloody and unconscious. The remaining soldiers pry the thing open. Once they opened the cock pit they quickly dashed away using the smoke from the explosion as cover as they dragged the pilot out of there. Unfortunately one of them gotten his feet caught between the mortar and the broken platform. Pleading them to leave him. He started praying to his god and thanking his family for everything as he grasped a locket that contained his family. When the imperial forces checked out the remains of the mech, he had just gotten out of his prayer and placed the HE grenade on the remaining munition of the mortal. Blowing the mech. the imperials, and himself to ashes. The radio man before leaving grabbed as much as he can and rigged the whole place to explode in 10 minutes, as he retreats back to the country side where he and Tasuki reunited with his saviors. A number of them were still able to survive as they retreat back to the evacuation zone. Alot of them were dragging the wounded soldier back with them as they board the helicopters back to a nearby Hoji safezone or fortress. They might have lost alot of them but, they found out alot of things about their weaponry and the imperial, knowledge that they will use in full effect in the battles that will soon, come in their quest for unification. Summary The Hoji Clan launched an attack on the imperial city of Tokyo. They sent in a number of "food trucks" in an attempt to fool the imperials. The attack was soon repelled by the combined effort of the imperials and their Alpha Group reinforcements.
